A fixed alarm limit only reacts once a machine is already over the line. By then the failure isn't coming, it's here.

AI works differently. It learns each machine's normal rhythm, notices the slow drift toward failure, and tells you what to fix first: Pump A in 2 days, Motor C this week, Fan B can wait.

That means no more scrambling over every alert like it's an emergency, and no more finding out when tenants are already calling.

Picking a software partner is one of those decisions that looks simple until you're six months in and something isn't going the way you expected. Most of the risk shows up early, in the questions you either asked or didn't during those first conversations.

We put together four we think matter most. Who actually owns the code and IP when the project wraps. How a team handles a feature that turns out harder than anyone quoted. Whether they'll ship something small first or push for one big contract. And how they think about security and where your data lives.

None of these are trick questions. A good partner will have clear answers ready. The ones who get vague or defensive are telling you something useful too.

We go deeper on all of this in our full guide to choosing a software partner πŸ”— https://buff.ly/31nnGC6.

We asked a client's CTO what most companies get wrong about AI.

Not the tools. Not the budgets.

Fear.

Fear of experimenting. Fear of letting AI touch anything that matters. And in this market, that instinct quietly backfires: a prototype that once took months now takes days.
The failed experiment barely costs a thing.

So, honestly, what's the one AI experiment your team keeps finding reasons not to run?

Fear was just one of the hard questions on the table. The rest are in the full write-up πŸ”— https://techquarter.io/blog/you-have-to-trust-the-model-notes-from-our-ai-roundtable/.

Some problems don't have an off-the-shelf answer. Building the answer is what we do.

Take golf facilities: availability, memberships, and booking rules complex enough that generic tools just break.

For our client we built Registry Golf, a platform that handles the whole operation in one place.

Getting ready for AI agents has less to do with the AI than with everything sitting underneath it.

That means clean, consistent data, interfaces you actually control, a first use case boring enough to measure, a review layer for the cases agents can't handle, and governance in place from the start.

You can hand off the work. You can't hand off the risk.

Here's a number that should change how every leader thinks about security: around 30% of breaches now involve a third party. That's roughly double the share from just a year earlier.

Meaning the danger increasingly doesn't come through your own front door. It comes through the vendors, tools, and partners you invited in.

And it's expensive. The average supply-chain breach costs about $4.91M, and takes 267 days to detect. Eight months of quiet exposure before anyone even knows.

The uncomfortable truth: when a partner gets breached, you get breached. Their security posture becomes part of yours, whether you vetted it or not.

So before you sign with anyone who'll touch your data, three questions worth asking:

Are you SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified?
When was your last independent pe*******on test?
Will you put data-processing terms in writing?

None of this is box-ticking. It's the difference between a risk you chose and one you inherited blind.

Most field service companies evaluating dispatch software ask the wrong questions first.

They compare features and pricing before checking whether their operational data is in good enough shape to make any of it work.

Swipe to see four questions worth answering before any platform evaluation starts.

If you could hand one task to software tomorrow and never think about it again, what would you pick?

For a lot of field service teams the answer isn't the actual repair work. It's everything around it: the double-entry, the schedule you rebuild by hand every time a job runs long, the "where's my tech" calls.

What's the first thing you'd want off your plate?

The research backs it up: only about 1 in 200 software projects hits all three targets, on time, on budget, and delivering what was promised. Small, tightly scoped projects succeed around 90% of the time. Large sprawling ones, under 10%.

Choosing who builds your software is one of the few decisions where most of the outcome is settled before any code is written. Not by the tech stack. Not by the day rate. By how carefully you vetted the partner.

So before you commit, look at six things: their track record on work like yours, their engineering process, security, financial stability, how they communicate, and the contract terms around who owns what you build.

The team most likely to succeed at your project is rarely the most polished one in the room. It's the one whose answers hold up when you check.
