Custom OTA & Remote Management for Kvaser Edge ⚙️

NZY Automotive Intelligent Technology built a custom OTA and remote management solution for the new Kvaser Edge, and showed it live at the JSAE Automotive Engineering Exposition last week. The demo ran at the Opsoc Inc. booth, and showed NZY using mobility technology alongside Kvaser Edge to push software and firmware over the air to a Kvaser Edge WL400S and perform ECU flashing.

The demo shows both the flexibility of the Kvaser Edge platform and NZY's ability to develop and deliver software quickly — an important capability as demand in the Japanese market grows.

That's a wrap on the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 in Yokohama! ⚙️

Three days of conversations with engineers and industry professionals from across the automotive world. Visitors at the Kvaser booth got to know the Kvaser Edge edge computing platform, the Kvaser Arcus Automotive Ethernet media converter, and CanKing 7, Kvaser’s free CAN and LIN bus analysis software. And on Day 1, CEO Martin Sventén presented "How Kvaser is Advancing Connectivity in the Era of Edge Computing, AI, and SDV Vehicles" to a packed room.

Kvaser U100 is a robust, single-channel CAN/CAN FD to USB interface with reinforced galvanic isolation.

At the core of the new Kvaser Edge is a powerful ARM-based Linux computer with Secure Element technology (NXP SE051C2), preventing unauthorized firmware installations and establishing a strong foundation for future security enhancements.

Kvaser Edge meets the requirements of Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

Connect the Kvaser Air Bridge M12 using the programming cable to the Kvaser T-cannector hub, which provides power to the Air Bridge during configuration. Connect the Kvaser Leaf v3 to the T-cannector via its D-SUB connector and to the PC, running the Kvaser Air Bridge Utility CLI, via the USB connector. The Utility CLI enables a user to configure and upgrade the firmware for Air Bridge M12 and other Air Bridge variants.

As he prepares to retire, Kent Lennartsson - Kvaser’s very first employee and long‑time research lead - reflects on how CAN has evolved over four decades, what still surprises him, and the engineering mindset he hopes endures.

The second surprise is how quickly things moved after that. CAN XL appeared around 2020, only about five years after CAN FD, and at a time when there were still relatively few products fully supporting CAN FD. The pace of development suddenly accelerated.
