Many of you that visited me at Blå Hallen Höganäs some weeks ago were curious about KUBBE—what’s the purpose of this chunk of wood, partly on wheels?
KUBBE was born from personal needs. I needed both a stool and chopping block in the kitchen of Martin Björnson – my countryside house – for splitting kindle and for carving spoons with my Julia Kalthoff carving axe. To be able to use an axe on it, it needed to be heavy and sturdy, so KUBBE is made from solid wood with end grain facing the top surface. Because of this it weighs in at 17 kg, so to be able to move it around easily it got (lockable) wheels in the back.
How would you use your KUBBE?
