The Desktop Environment in this Exton|OS build is KDE Plasma 4:6.6.6. Plasma is made to stay out of the way as it helps you get things done. But under its light and intuitive surface, it’s a powerhouse. So you’re free to choose ways of usage right as you need them and when you need them. Program content in build 260831: Most important are Refracta Snapshot and Android Studio Quail 3 2026.1.3 with an excellent Android Emulator. You can run several Android systems directly in Exton|OS. Also with GAPPS (Google Play Services and Google Play Store) pre-installed. MOST IMPORTANT CHANGES IN BUILD 260831
1. This Exton|OS version is for UEFI and and Legacy computers.
2. I have installed and configured Android Studio. It has the very best Android Emulator with support directly from Google (the creator of Android). You can also develop your own Android apps in Android Studio.
3. Refracta Snapshot is pre-installed so that you can create your own Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS System using Exton|OS as a template.
4. Kernel 7.2.2-amd64-exton-os is used.

NOTE: The Android Emulator performance in generally very good. I.e. you will enjoy excellent sound and video quality in all apps.

ABOUT NVIDIA
NVIDIA Proprietary Graphics Driver 610.57.04 (especially for kernel 7.2) is pre-installed. The driver will be used if you have a fairly new NVIDIA card.

ExTiX 26.8 LXQt – Build 260811
I have made a new version of ExTiX – The Ultimate Linux System. I call it ExTiX 26.8 LXQt Live System. (The previous LXQt version was 25.12 from 251201). ExTiX 26.8 is a remix of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon). Ubuntu 26.04 LTS will be supported until July 2031.

FEATURES
The best thing with ExTiX 26.8 is that while running the system live (from DVD/USB) or from hard drive you can use Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed) to create your own live installable Ubuntu system. So easy that a ten year child can do it! One other very good thing with this version of ExTiX is that it is quite light. The ISO file is of only 2800 MB, which means that you can run the system super fast from RAM. When the boot process is ready you can eject the DVD or USB stick. Use Boot alternative 2 or Advanced options… >> load to RAM.

PuppEX (Puppy Linux) Resolute64 LXQt compatible with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS “Resolute Raccoon” :: Build 260804

NEWS ABOUT PuppEX Resolute64 LXQt with the LXQt 2.3.0 Desktop Environment – Build 260804
This Puppy derivative is made by me. It is built from Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute Raccoon) packages and packages built from woof-CE Recipes. This PuppEX Build uses kernel 7.0.11. This is possibly one of the best PuppEX versions I’ve ever made. Everything just works! I could run the system very well on all of my six different computers. Among them on a really old computer Acer Aspire 5102WLMi from 2006.

REPLACEMENT
This PuppEX Build (260804) replaces Build 2607025, which used the ROX Desktop Environment. The LXQt Desktop is more useful than ROX. I think.

Exton|Defender Rawhide (upcoming fc45) with GNOME 51 as DE, Calamares Installer, Refracta Snapshot and kernel 7.1.3-amd64-exton :: Build 260721

ABOUT Exton|Defender Build 260721
Exton|Defender, based on Fedora Rawhide (upcoming Fedora 45), 64 bit, is an extra version built mainly because I finally found a way to install Calamares Installer in Fedora Rawhide and make it work. This build is not really a “Defender SRS” system. You can, however, install all the rescue tools you may need also when running this version live. (I.e. from a USB stick or a DVD). GNOME 51~alpha-1-fc45 is used as DE. Fedora 44 was released in a stable version on April 28, 2026 so Exton|Defender fc45 (being based on upcoming Fedora 45) should be very “unstable”. I have, however, not noticed anything special. I.e. programs won’t crash or anything like that. One “bug” though: You can’t change wallpaper the “normal” way. I.e. by clicking on the Desktop. You can, however, open your desired image with gThumb and set your image as wallpaper. Or, while logged in as liveuser, you can just open Filer (Nautilus) and click on the picture you want to use as wallpaper.

REFRACTA SNAPSHOT
You can create your own Fedora Rawhide system using Refracta Snapshot, which is pre-installed. I.e. change everything to your liking and then create a new ISO. That can be done after a hard drive installation. If you have plenty of RAM it is also possible to create a new ISO while running Exton|Defender Rawhide live. NOTE: For Refracta Snapshot to work you will need to run “my” kernel 7.1.3-amd64-exton. It won’t work with Fedora’s original kernel. Actually you can run another kernel when starting Refracta Snapshot, but you must keep the links /vmlinuz and /initrd.img pointing to my kernel.
NOTE: When you start up Refracta Snapshot you will get a message saying that your ISO won’t boot on UEFI computers. Don’t worry. I’ve arranged so that it will.

Runs from RAM

KERNELS
While running live “my” kernel 7.1.3-amd64-exton will be used. After a hard drive installation you can use Fedora’s original kernel, which right now is 7.2.0-0.rc3.260715g58717b2a1365.29.fc45.

Exton|Defender fc44 (stable) with Cinnamon 6.6.7-7.fc44, Calamares Installer and Refracta Snapshot :: Build 260718

Exton|Defender SRS (Super Rescue System) is a Linux system available as a Live System based on Fedora 44, 64bit. Fedora 44 was released on April 28, 2026. Exton|Defender is for administrating or repairing your system and data after a crash. Exton|Defender aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the hard disk partitions. It comes with a lot of Linux software such as system tools and basic tools (editors, Midnight Commander, network tools). Exton|Defender can, however, also be used as a normal Linux Desktop System. It requires no hard drive installation, but can easily be installed to hard drive if you want. Desktop environment: A special version of Cinnamon 6.6.7-7.fc44 developed by Fedora.

SYSTEM TOOLS included
NTFS-3g, GParted, Shred, Sfdisk (util-linux-ng), Rsync, Ddrescue, FSArchiver, TestDisk and Midnight Commander. Other programs (among many others): NetworkManager, Firefox, Parole Media Player, Samba, Java and Java Runtime Environment (JRE), Emacs, Safecopy, kernel headers and many compilation tools. Exton|Defender uses kernel 7.1.3-amd64-exton when running LIVE. After a hard drive installation Fedora’s original kernel 7.1.3-201.fc44 can be used (as an alternative).

ExTiX Deepin 26.7 Live based on Deepin 25.2.0 STABLE (latest) with Refracta Snapshot and kernel 7.1.2-amd64-exton :: Build 260710

NEWS 260710 ABOUT ExTiX with Deepin 25.2.0 STABLE (released 260708)
I’ve released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (260710). The previous ExTiX Deepin version with Deepin 25.1 STABLE is from 260501. This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 25.2.0 STABLE (latest version) released by Deepin Technology on July 8, 2026. ExTiX 26.7 uses kernel 7.1.2-amd64-exton. ExTiX 26.7 works in the same way as all other ExTiX versions. I.e. you can install it to hard drive while running the system live. Use Refracta Installer for that. Deepin Installer doesn’t work in ExTiX. You can also create your own live installable Deepin 25.2.0 system with Refracta Snapshot. (Using ExTiX 26.7 as a “base system/template”). So easy that a ten year old child can do it!

PERFORMANCE
Even though the system is BIG it runs quite fast. Especially if you run ExTiX from RAM.

UNIQUE?
Previous versions of ExTiX Deepin (for example ExTiX Deepin 23 STABLE) were unique since the original Deepin System wasn’t a LIVE System. As regards Deepin 25.2.0 STABLE you can also test run the System Live before installing to hard drive. You can, however, not make your own Deepin 25.2.0 System from the original using Refracta Snapshot. That’s because it is impossible to install Refracta Snapshot (and Refracta Installer) according to my experience. Even if you manage to install those apps you can’t use them properly, since the original Deepin 25.2.0 System is Read-Only. I.e System directories are mounted as read-only (and you can’t change that). This means (among other things) that you can’t create the necessary links /initrd.img and /vmlinuz.

I have made a new extra version of DebEX, which I call DebEX GNOME Live System. It’s a pure Debian system using the testing ("forky" – upcoming Debian 14) repositories. GNOME 50.1 is used as Desktop Environment.

IMPORTANT about Refracta Snapshot
You can use the Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed) to create your own installable DebEX/Debian Live System once you have installed DebEX to hard drive. I mean change everything and then create a whole new Debian forky live system.
