A little less screen time. A little more court time. 🏓

Last Thursday, we brought together retail and commerce leaders for a Pickleball Social at ShopBack’s Campus.

There were friendly games, drinks, bites, and plenty of conversations, but what we enjoyed most was seeing people from different corners of the commerce ecosystem connect outside the usual meeting room.

No presentations or long agendas.
Just people meeting people, sharing what they’re working on, and discovering where there might be room to collaborate.

A big thank you to our partners Shopback and Bloomreach for putting this together with us, and to everyone who joined us on the court.

See you at the next one! đź‘‹

Sometimes, the best business conversations happen between games, over a quick chat, or while waiting for the next serve 🏓

If you're up for some movement, join us at The Commerce Rally: Shared Plays for Owned Growth in Singapore. It'll be a fun evening meeting people from the retail & eCommerce space, exchanging ideas, and talking about what’s actually happening in the industry without the usual conference-room setup.

No big pitch decks. No “let’s circle back” energy. Just good people, good conversations, and maybe a little friendly competition.

There are some messages people need to hear.
But that doesn't mean they want to watch them.

Public hygiene is a good example.

You can put the message on a poster.
Put it in an announcement.
Put it in a 30-second video.

But at some point, people scroll.

What makes the NEA / Public Hygiene Council approach interesting is the effort to make public-hygiene messages feel more human and engaging. Whether through humour, social content, community initiatives, or storytelling.

The lesson for brands isn't really about public hygiene.
It's about attention. That's where storytelling starts to matter.

Sometimes people don't need more content.
They just need the right content for them.

That's why giving viewers a choice can change the whole experience.

“What are you looking for?”
→ This one
→ That one
→ Actually, show me something else

Now the audience isn't just watching.
They're choosing where the story goes.

Most brand videos follow the same formula:
Press play → watch → finish.

But what if the viewer could actually influence what they see?

Someone wants the “best product for oily skin.”
Someone else wants something for sensitive skin.
Another person just wants to compare products.

Why make all three people watch the same story?

With BeLive's Interactive Video Branching, viewers can choose their own path through the content while brands get useful signals from those choices.

It turns video from something people simply watch into something they participate in.

And sometimes, the best way to understand your audience is to let them choose.

Most brands already have product videos.
The real question is... "What happens after someone watches them?"
If the answer is "they leave the video to search for the product," you've probably lost more customers than you realize.

Imagine if viewers could tap a product, see more details, ask questions, and even add it to their cart.
All without leaving the video. That's the difference between creating content... and creating a shopping experience.

Maybe your next sales channel isn't a new campaign, but it's the videos you've already invested in.

Would you rather send customers somewhere else or let them shop while they're already interested?

Be honest... How many videos have you opened today...
only to leave halfway because of a notification?

Your customers do exactly the same thing.
The internet isn't competing for attention anymore. It's competing for participation.

People stay longer when they can do something.
Vote. Tap. Explore. Ask. Shop.

The brands winning attention today aren't always creating more content.
They're creating experiences.

Everyone is creating content today. The real question is what happens after someone watches it?

For many brands, content is still treated as a campaign. It drives traffic, generates sales, and then the team moves on to the next idea. The brands growing the most sustainably are taking a different approach.

They're building a content commerce ecosystem where every piece of content is connected to commerce, customer data, and future experiences. That means every interaction doesn't just generate a sale, it makes the whole business smarter over time.

The goal isn't to publish more, but to build a system where content keeps creating value long after it's live.

Are you building campaigns, or are you building an ecosystem?

More content isn't always the answer.

Many brands respond to slower growth by creating more videos, running more campaigns, and posting more often.

But when the campaign ends...
So do the results.

The brands that keep growing think differently.

They don't just create content.
They build a system that keeps turning content into engagement, customer insights, and sales.

Because the goal isn't to produce more.

It's to make every piece of content work harder.

If you had to choose, would you rather have 100 new videos or one system that keeps every video delivering value?

Hooq had premium content.
Big investors. Millions of users.

It still failed.

The lesson?
You can't just build another video platform and hope people come.
You need video that lives inside a customer journey that already exists.

Whether it's helping someone understand a product, compare options, ask questions, or buy with confidence... Video should solve a business problem, not just generate views.

That's why at BeLive, we don't start with features.

We start with one question: "What customer behavior are we trying to change?"

Because great video strategies don't start from zero.
They build on what businesses already have: customers, products, trust, and content.

What's one customer touchpoint in your business that could become better with video?
