🔹 Special Feature: SIPET's journey and its next chapter

As SIPET prepares to transition into the ASEAN Energy Database System (AEDS), we sat down with Maximilian Heil, Regional Project Coordinator for the CASE - Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia project, and Silvira Ayu Rosalia, Senior Energy Statistician at the ASEAN Centre for Energy, to reflect on the platform's story so far.

In conversation, Max and Silvira look back at the vision that shaped SIPET, the lessons learned from building an open-access regional knowledge platform, and why ACE is the natural long-term home for tools like the Project Mapping Tool and Power Transition Progress Tool.

Their shared message: SIPET's mission continues. Through AEDS, the platform's data, tools, and growing community will keep supporting evidence-based policymaking and Southeast Asia's clean energy transition for years to come.

50 years of EU-ASEAN diplomatic relations are approaching. What does that milestone mean for the region's energy future?

In the latest edition of SIPET Connect, Maximilian Heil speaks with Gaspard de Bousies, Programme Manager – Energy & Environment at the Delegation of the European Union to ASEAN, about:

🔹 How the Global Gateway Strategy is mobilising investment for the ASEAN Power Grid
🔹 The complementary roles of the Technical Assistance Facility, SCOPE Investment Facility, and SCOPE Energy
🔹 What Europe's own experience of regional market integration can offer ASEAN
🔹 Why regional cooperation, not a single model, is central to the EU's approach

What does it take to catalyse Asia's clean energy transition when the region is this diverse, and the pace this urgent?

SIPET Connect sat down with Aviva Imhof of Tara Climate Foundation to find out. From distributed solar to coalition building to the politics of change, her answers are worth reading in full.

One thread running through the conversation: the biggest barrier is rarely opposition to renewables. More often, it is institutions still operating on 20th-century assumptions. How philanthropy is trying to change that is what the interview gets into.

The March 2026 edition of SIPET Connect is out!

This month’s Transition Toolbox turns to one of the most critical, yet often under-integrated, dimensions of the energy transition: gender. In this conversation, Ellen Bomasang, a long-time energy and international development practitioner with experience spanning Asia, Africa, and beyond, reflects on her journey across the sector and how her work has increasingly centered centred on questions of access, equity, and inclusion.

SIPET Connect's February 2026 edition is out!

This month, we explore a key question shaping Southeast Asia’s energy transition: why do strong projects still struggle to meet capital (and vice versa)?

Inside this issue:
🔹 A Transition Toolbox interview with Sarah Love (FCDO) on investable pipelines, the ASEAN Power Grid, and blended finance moving private capital from interest to action
🔹 An explainer on scaling cross-border power trade, from grid rules to risk-sharing
🔹 Regional clean energy jobs, events, and fresh reads
If you work at the intersection of policy, finance, and power systems, this one’s for you.
