The U.S. Copyright Office and the U.S. District Court have refused to recognize AI as the copyright in generated content.

The U.S. Copyright Office concluded that an image created by artificial intelligence does not include an element of "human authorship," a necessary standard for copyright protection.

District Judge Howell wrote in her ruling that copyright has never been granted to a work that is created without human guidance, adding that "human authorship
ownership is a fundamental requirement of copyright law."

Different jurisdictions may regulate rights to works created by artificial intelligence differently, but there are a few rules to keep in mind.

The rights to works created by AI may belong to either:

1. the team of developers who created the artificial intelligence,
2. the owner of the software that was used to create the work,
3. the author who created the final product using artificial intelligence.

We recommend that all authors using AI services carefully read the license agreement before using them.
