Magic Leap is a mixed reality startup that received US$1.4 billion in funding before even releasing a product. But it looks like the startup might have been overhyped. Magic Leap’s CEO Rony Abovitz has admitted that much of the technology in the prototype the startup demoed to investors won’t be available in its first product launch, and that a “demo” video it put up on YouTube was actually created by a special effects company. Rony is known for being a showman. Is this the Theranos of augmented reality?
