Choose Regions Strategically: Don’t just pick the cheapest one. Look for regions with high "Availability Zone" (AZ) density and geographic distance from potential geopolitical hotspots.
The Power of Multi-Region: Spread your mission-critical workloads across geographically distant regions (e.g., us-east-1 and us-west-2). If one goes dark, the other stays live.
Automated Failover: Use Route 53 health checks to automatically reroute traffic during a regional outage.
Data Sovereignty vs. Safety: Balance the need to keep data in-country with the need to keep it backed up in a completely different power grid or tectonic plate.
