Robotics Software Engineer
In ParanaVision we develop cutting edge machine vision systems for industry. Our newest product brings visual inspection on wheels; freely moves around the production plant to detect anomallies.
As a Robotics Software Engineer at ParanaVision you will be part of a talented team working on our fully autonomous mobile robots for visual inspection.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating the software that drives our new generation mobile robots and implements their autonomy.
The Role
• You develop a localization system for a mobile robot
• Besides the software development, you understand functionality of environment sensors like 3D camera, LIDAR, IMU and work with the sensor data
Role Responsibilities
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining onboard software using ROS and other open source packages.
• Working on mapping, localization, path planning, obstacle avoidance, perception, and autonomous behaviors for mobile robots. Our robots are designed to work safely and reliably alongside the workers.
• Building interfaces for managing and configuring our robot fleet and the data they generate.
• You test your component on different levels, i.e. unit, integration and system tests
• You integrate your component into the superior system
• You work in a multidisciplinary team and are encouraged to think outside of the box
Personal Requirements
• Degree in software or electrical-electronics engineering, computer science or similar qualification
• Ideally, several years of professional experience
• Passion for C++ programming; Python experience is advantageous
• Working understanding of core ROS concepts: publishers/subscribers, topics, services, parameter server, etc
• ROS and Linux experience
• A well-structured workflow is a matter of course for you. This includes handling of software versioning tools like git.
• Fluent English
Recommended:
• Extensive experience using ROS in real robots – ideally autonomous ground mobile robots
• Familiarity with the ROS navigation stack
• Experience with agile software development
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery
• Experience with Docker containers
