Generative Drums # Mixolydian
Another test video from my new generative audiovisual project “Generative Drums”
The generative audio system is complete, while the visual module is still in its testing phase.
This performance is a live improvisation recorded with my Roland TD-17KV2 electronic drum kit. Almost everything you hear—bass, piano, and guitar—is generated in real time from the notes coming from the drums.
In addition, the system includes an autonomous melody generator with its own melodic movement rules, driven by a pseudo-random number algorithm.
The entire system is designed using Ableton Live and Vuo. I programmed a custom Control Unit in Vuo for autonomous melody generation, instrument switching, and real-time harmonic changes.
No backing tracks—everything emerges in real time.
Human + algorithm in constant interaction.
No AI. Just pure generative flow.
