🦖 Did you know that marine iguanas look like tiny dinosaurs? It's true! These unique creatures are found only in the Galapagos Islands and are the only marine lizards in the world. 🐉
Marine iguanas have a distinct appearance with their spiky crests, sharp claws, and dark coloring that helps them blend in with the volcanic rock they inhabit. 🌋 They have evolved to be able to swim and feed underwater, making them the only lizards capable of doing so. 🌊
These incredible reptiles have also developed a special adaptation to survive in their harsh environment. During times when food is scarce, marine iguanas can shrink their bodies and slow down their metabolism, allowing them to survive for long periods without eating. 🍃
