Austrian artist LIA () is considered one of the pioneers of software and net art and has been producing works since 1995. Her practice spans across video, performance, software, installations, sculpture, projections and digital applications. The artist’s primary working material is code, which consists of LIA translating a concept into a formal written structure that then can be used to create a “machine” that generates real-time multimedia outputs. Since her concept is fluid - opposed to the formality of the written code that requires engineered precision - the translation process between machine and artist can be viewed like a conversation. The process is repeated until LIA is satisfied with the machine’s interpretation; at which point the generative framework, in which the artwork can develop, is considered finished.

LIA’s works combine traditions of drawing and painting with the aesthetics of digital images and algorithms, characterised by a minimalist quality and by an affinity with conceptual art. She focuses on the translation of certain experienced principles into abstract forms, movements and colours in order to allow the viewer to explore the same on a subconscious level.

Franz Rosati is a musician and digital artist. He uses digital technologies and custom-made software as the foundation for his artistic production, spanning from concerts, audio-visual live sets, installations, software art and printed artworks.

His multi-faceted aesthetic takes the form of deeply emotional music, rich of tensive crescendos and heavy beats, across rhythmic noise and cinematic sound design.

His artworks are characterized by aseptic, sharp, flipped out digital sounds produced by unorthodox synthesis techniques alongside procedural/generative point-clouds or signal driven lasers.

For the last ten years Franz Rosati has composed music for theatrical pieces and visual arts, made interactive software art, taught interactive systems, new media arts and sound design in universities and art schools.

New artwork added to gallery: 'Hyletics seq077' by Franz Rosati / → https://frm.fm/a/franz_rosati/hyletics_seq077
Hyletics is a serie of audiovisual artworks focused on the representation and exploration of intangible landscapes. The aesthetics is inspired by the CGI era when photorealism was remarkable but still far from the current results, forcing our perception to imagine reality, nature, life, hidden among streams of pixels. Terrains and textures are generated by mixing procedural generation techniques with images and data coming from geographic information systems as well as daily life footage.

New artworks added to gallery: 'Interaction of Color 01 & 02' by B. Johansson → https://frm.fm/a/b_johansson

"Arrays of colored rectangles, rotating like bidirectional hands of a clock, obfuscating the visual representation of time in a matter that's isomorphic to the way the rectangles' partially blended colors lose their primary characteristics but gain new ones.

Inspired by the cover of Josef Albers' seminal book "Interaction of Color" and presented as a software artwork on FRAMED*.

New artwork added to gallery: 'Calam' by Nicolas Boillot / → https://frm.fm/a/nicolas_boillot/calam
"This loop is a compression of time, where colors reveal the temporality of the original footage remixed. Tokyo's city lights are used as brush. The city's perspective re-emerges from the vanishing lines created by strokes moving in the same direction."

New artwork added to gallery: 'Adrift' by Arash Akbari / → https://frm.fm/a/arash_akbari/adrift
"Adrift" is an unstable translucent digital material that is become visible by reflecting and refracting the light from its surrounding environment. The environment is created by walking in the latent space of a trained AI model of the natural environments. The constant changes in the shape of the material are causing its surface to reflect the evolving environment differently. Thus, ever-changing forms emerge from the interaction between them. The piece tries to explore the blue mind effect in the digital mediated age.
