We’ve always hired juniors. And we’re not changing that.

Part of it is simple: every strong team we’ve built started with someone who didn’t know everything yet.

Games, good company, genuinely competitive people pretending they’re not competitive. The kind of thing that’s hard to put in a job description but easy to feel when you’re in the room.

The other day our delivery lead mentioned something: she doesn’t just look at skills when putting people on projects. She looks at who’d actually vibe together.

Not in a «team bonding exercise» way. More like: this person likes slower, methodical work. That person wants to move fast and stay late. These two already have inside jokes. Those two will argue productively and make each other better.

She sets it up. Gives everyone the context they need.
Clears blockers. Then steps back.

The team just... runs with it.

That’s why three people can answer the same Slack question.
Why juniors feel comfortable merging senior code.
Why estimates get hashed out in two minutes instead of escalated.

It’s not a system. It’s just people who know what each other’s doing and don’t mind being in the same room.

Turns out that’s most of it.
