Every single day, without fail, approximately 33,000 new domains are registered somewhere in the world. Not per week. Not per month. Per day.
In 2020 there were 201.6 million total registered domains. By the end of 2021 that number had jumped to 438.4 million — a 117% increase in a single year. The single biggest day in domain registration history was September 21st 2021, when 14.5 million new domains were registered in one day alone. The pandemic had pushed the entire world online and the numbers showed it. By late 2024 registered domains were approaching 800 million and the daily registrations have not slowed since.
Every one of those domains is a business that needs a website. Every website needs someone to build it. Every someone who builds it needs hosting, needs support, needs a developer, needs a designer.
There are web designers who genuinely believe the market is saturated. That there is not enough work to go around. That the competition is too fierce and the clients too few. The numbers above suggest a different reality entirely.
On average there are about 33,000 domain name registrations every single day. That is 33,000 new potential clients entering the market daily. Not annually. Not monthly.
The pool is not shrinking. It has never been bigger. The only real question is how many of those 33,000 daily registrations will find you before they find someone else.
