We participated in the SME Cybersecurity Standard Sensitisation Workshop organized by the National Information Technology Authority - Uganda (NITA-U) under the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP-GoVNet).
The workshop brought together SMEs, cybersecurity experts, assessors, and industry stakeholders to discuss the newly developed SME Cybersecurity Standard aimed at strengthening cybersecurity resilience among small and medium enterprises in Uganda.
As Sumic IT Solutions Ltd, we are proud to have successfully undergone the cybersecurity assessment process under this framework and to contribute practical industry insights during the panel discussion session focused on “Experiences from the Front Line.”
During the panel session, represented by our Founder & CEO, Cirus Sumika, we shared our organizational experience regarding:
➡️ Cybersecurity preparedness for SMEs
➡️ The importance of governance and operational security
➡️ Practical implementation challenges SMEs face
➡️ The value of structured cybersecurity controls and compliance frameworks
➡️ Lessons learned during the assessment and review process
The SME Cybersecurity Standard introduces practical and affordable baseline controls for SMEs covering:
✅ Secure Configuration
✅ Security Update Management

✅ Data Backup & Recovery
At Sumic IT Solutions Ltd, we strongly believe cybersecurity is no longer optional, it is a critical business, operational, and trust requirement in today’s digital economy.
