IT IS A SCAM ~
If your computer locks up and it's talking to you.
If Windows Defender has found 86 viruses.
If Microsoft pops up and you need to call this number.

Do not call that number - don't google a number - they are ALWAYS scams.

Hold the power button down for 15 seconds and restart your computer. Usually it will go away, if it doesn't, call us on Monday. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Weekend with your family!

Spot the scam before you give away all your informaion!

This was a scam text one of our employees received today. The "Fraud Dept" then called the employee to get more information. When the employee answered the phone the person on the other end of the line had a heavy accent and before they could start asking questions the employee said they were going to the bank to take care of it in person and the "Fraud Dept" hung up on the employee.

There are a lot of red flags to this text scam!
1. The (R) that is put next to Forward Bank. That is never on their text messages but makes this one look ligit.
2. The "device" is a phone that is almost 10 years old and has not been supported for over 5 years so no one is using these devices anymore. If you are a scammer you are using some really high end equipment - not old junk!
3. After saying No the following text is all wrong. It was not a transaction, every word is capitalized, and they use the word contacting you vs. calling you.

Generally speaking - If you have online banking access you need to have two-factor authentication enabled to use it. This prevents others from logging into your account without a code being sent to your email or texted to your phone. If you receive a code do not give it out to someone else (The exception to the rule is when you are already on the phone with the bank that you called thier LOCAL number and they send a code to you to verify your identity before continuing to talk to you).

When in doubt call the bank directly - luckily this employee was smart and spotted the discrepencies. The bank has sent the information to their real fraud department.
