School is back in Session! And the students at Dyess Elementary School came back this fall to a beautiful new building designed by our architect friends at Parkhill. Zachry+ is very pleased to get to be a part of their experience in this new space. Architect Rupert Rangel and interior designer Ruth Traylor engaged Z+ to design custom graphics centered around the history of flight, to coordinate with their unique design for this school. Each grade level now has a custom icon such as a paper airplane, hot air balloon, helicopter, plane or rocket ship to represent various forms of flight. From designing the icons to printing a plane graphic as large as a 14 x 48' (installed 20' high) ... this was a fun project!

Abilene Heritage Square is the restored and adapted 1924 Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. The project will result in a new home for the main branch of the Abilene Public Library through a contemporary addition to the historic building, as well as restored areas such as the auditorium and the gym to be used for special event rental. The campus will also house Spark Innovation, a center where families can experience the wonders of science and technology. This space will serve as a second location for The Grace Museum, and the Stone Owl Academy.

So how does one go about creating a brand identity for this beloved Abilene building in its new life as a major center for the community?

Z+ worked with the board of AHS to examine their likes and dislikes to blend them together into a strong and striking identity. The branding will be used for all marketing, fundraising and interior and exterior signage.
