Twenty Years. Five Lessons That Built Brookstone.

Twenty years ago I knew technology.
I knew almost nothing about running a business.
Over two decades I've made mistakes, celebrated wins, lost sleep, learned hard lessons, and grown in ways I never expected.
Here are five things twenty years in business has taught me.

1. Character Outlasts Talent.

Technology changes.
Skills become outdated.
The latest trends come and go.
But integrity never goes out of style.
Your reputation is one of the few things you build every day and can lose in a single moment.
Protect it.

2. Relationships Are More Valuable Than Transactions.

Some of our clients have trusted us for well over a decade.
They've watched us grow.
We've watched their businesses grow.
Technology is what we do.
Relationships are why we do it.

3. Excellence Is a Daily Choice.

People rarely remember the cheapest company.
They remember the company that answered the phone.
That showed up.
That kept their word.
That solved problems.
Excellence isn't one big moment.
It's thousands of small decisions.

4. Growth Requires Change.

Brookstone today looks nothing like Brookstone in 2006.
We've changed business models.
Added services.
Learned new technologies.
Made mistakes.
Adapted.
If you're unwilling to change, you're choosing not to grow.

5. Faith Has Been My Greatest Foundation.

When I started Brookstone, I had a dream, a used laptop, and $2,000 in the bank.
There were seasons when I didn't know how everything would work out.
But God has been faithful through every challenge, every uncertainty, and every opportunity.
I can honestly say that Brookstone wouldn't be celebrating twenty years without His grace.

Twenty years later...
I'm grateful.
Grateful for every client who trusted us.
Grateful for every employee who's been part of the journey.
Grateful for my wife Amanda, who believed in me from the very beginning.
And above all...
Grateful to God.
Thank you for allowing Brookstone to serve you for the past twenty years.

Every business has a beginning.

This was ours.

Twenty years ago, Brookstone Technology Services didn’t begin in a modern office with a team of people. It started in a spare bedroom with a desk, a computer, and a dream.

Amanda and I had just gotten married the year before. I had recently left a good-paying job because I wanted something different for our future. I wanted to build a business of my own, serve clients with excellence and integrity, and be home with my family every night instead of traveling.

Looking back, it sounds exciting.

At the time, it was uncertain.

I had $2,000 in the bank, a used laptop, and no clients.

There was no business plan that guaranteed success.

No roadmap.

No promises.

Only faith, hard work, and the belief that if I treated people well and honored my commitments, God would open the right doors.

Every client mattered.

Every phone call mattered.

Every opportunity mattered.

What I didn’t realize then was that this little room would become the starting point of relationships that have now lasted two decades.

Today, when I look at this picture, I don’t see an old office.

I see God’s faithfulness.

I see Amanda’s unwavering belief in me.

I see clients who took a chance on a brand-new company.

And I’m reminded that great things often begin in ordinary places.

To everyone who has been part of this journey over the last 20 years…

Thank you.

20 Years.

Twenty years ago, I took a step of faith and started Brookstone Technology Services with a simple goal—to help businesses use technology they could depend on.

I had no idea where the journey would lead.

Over the past two decades, we’ve experienced incredible highs, difficult challenges, economic uncertainty, changing technology, and more lessons than I could ever count. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: God’s faithfulness.

Today, I’m filled with gratitude.

To every employee who has been part of our team…
To every vendor, partner, friend, and family member who encouraged us along the way…

Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. This Memorial Day, we pause in gratitude for the heroes who gave everything and for the families who continue to carry their legacy.

Yesterday was a day of hope and joy! We had the privilege of partnering with Make-A-Wish to help a remarkable young man battling cancer see his wish come true. Seeing his smile reminded us all of the power of hope and community. Thank you to everyone who makes these wishes possible!
