📞 March 10th is National Landline Telephone Day!

Before smartphones, texting, and Wi-Fi calling, the landline telephone was the original way people stayed connected. From emergency calls to family check-ins, landlines played a major role in communication for more than a century.

The first successful telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell, forever changing how people communicate across distances. What started as simple wired calls between homes eventually grew into the global communications networks we rely on today.

Even in today’s digital world, landlines still play an important role—especially for businesses, emergency services, and rural communities where reliable communication is critical.

At Agate Networks, we appreciate the technology that laid the foundation for the modern communication systems we use every day.

☎️ Fun Fact: Traditional landline phones often continue working during power outages because they receive power directly from the telephone line!

🌐 Agate Networks Sunday Fun Fact!

Did you know the very first website ever created is still online today?

In 1991, computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee launched the first website while working at CERN. The page explained what the World Wide Web was and how people could create their own websites.

Even though the internet has grown to over a billion websites, that original page is still preserved as a piece of tech history!

💻 The web has come a long way—from simple text pages to the high-speed connected world we rely on today for communication, business, and emergency services.

At Agate Networks, we love being part of the technology that keeps communities connected every day.

🌐 Agate Networks Internet Fun Fact!

Did you know the internet actually started as a military research project?

In 1969, the first version of the internet called ARPANET connected just four computers between universities in California and Utah through the research agency ARPA.

The very first message ever sent over the network was supposed to be the word “LOGIN.”
But the system crashed after the first two letters… so the first message in internet history was simply:

💻 “LO”

From those two letters to today’s high-speed fiber and wireless connections, the internet has come a long way!

📡 At Agate Networks, we’re proud to keep our community connected every day.

☎️✨Telephone Fact Wednesday with Agate Networks!✨☎️

Before area codes existed, phone numbers were much shorter — sometimes just 4 or 5 digits! As communities grew, the North American Numbering Plan was introduced in 1947 to help organize the expanding network. That’s when area codes became a thing!

Fun fact: Originally, big cities were given area codes that were faster to dial on rotary phones. Places like New York City got 212 because it required fewer spins of the dial. Smaller towns had longer combinations.

From party lines (yes, you shared a line with your neighbors!) to private fiber connections, telephone technology has always adapted to meet growing demand.

At Agate Networks, we’re proud to carry that legacy forward — delivering modern connectivity while remembering how far communication has come.

📞Phone Fact Monday!

Did you know the very first telephone call was made in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell? His first words over the phone were:

“Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you."

Hard to believe that simple sentence sparked a communication revolution that led us from wired wall phones… to smartphones in our pockets… to crystal-clear fiber internet right here in Agate! 🚀

From the first call to today’s high-speed connections, Agate Networks is proud to keep our community talking.

☎️ What was the first phone you remember using? A rotary? A flip phone? Tell us below! 👇

🌾🌬️ Eastern Plains Weather Alert — Red Flag Warning 🌬️🌾

The wind is kicking up across the Eastern Plains, and today through tomorrow we’re under a Red Flag Warning. High winds, low humidity, and dry conditions don’t just increase fire danger — they can also impact infrastructure and communications.

Strong gusts can cause power outages, damage lines, and disrupt connectivity across our rural communities.

🔌 Secure loose outdoor equipment
🌬️ Prepare for possible power interruptions
📱 Keep devices charged in case of outages
🚗 Use caution if traveling, especially in high-profile vehicles

Agate Networks is monitoring conditions and ready to respond if needed. We live and work here too — and we know how quickly the plains can change.

Stay safe. Stay weather aware. Eastern Plains strong.
