No one tells you what to say in these client situations... 👀

One of the hardest parts of being a social media manager isn't creating content - it's knowing how to respond when unexpected client requests come up.

Whether you're new to the industry or you've been doing this for years, having a plan for these conversations can save you a lot of stress (and second-guessing).

Here's how we'd approach a few of the most common situations:

✨ A client asks for work outside your original scope
Thank them for reaching out, explain that the request falls outside your current agreement, outline your pricing for the additional work, and provide an estimated timeline.

✨ A client asks for a service you don't offer
Let them know it's outside your expertise while offering to recommend someone who specializes in it.

✨ A client wants more revisions than your agreement includes
Remind them they've reached the revisions included in their package and explain how additional revisions are billed before moving forward.

✨ An invoice is overdue
Send a friendly payment reminder and let them know work will continue once the outstanding balance has been received.

✨ Payment still hasn't been received after your first reminder
Follow up professionally, explain that upcoming work will be paused until payment is made, and leave the door open for any questions.

Clear communication and healthy boundaries don't make you difficult to work with, they help build stronger client relationships and a more sustainable business.
