This just popped up in the memory feed. What a beautiful project to be involved in! I have such great memories of this entire two-summer process. The mural at Washington Middle School still looks as good today as it did when it was finished. It was definitely worth raising the extra funds to use Nova Color paints!
And look at those smiling faces! Those kids are all adults now, forging their own paths in the world. I wish them all the best and hope they remember this time as fondly as we do ❤️
Well that was a nice surprise! Being honored by the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education for Outstanding Public Service is something that doesn’t happen every day. Ripe, Inc. is proud to be a part of this incredible team responsible for the Washington Middle School mural. Honorees: Working Classroom & two artist apprentices; artist nani Chacon; film teacher, Dominic Pettine; WMS student artists and student videographers; Principal Angela Rodriguez. Huge thanks to all volunteers, donors, kids and neighbors who helped make it a reality! Phase 2 in 2016… stay tuned.
