Lone Peak is easily one of the most treacherous, painful hikes in Utah. It was way more than we bargained for. Were there moments on the trail where taking a 2-hour nap sounded a lot better than taking another step? Absolutely. Did we think about turning around? Not a chance.

Here is the raw truth about brutal climbs—and whatever giant obstacle you’re facing right now:

    •    You are always capable of more than you think. Your mind wants to quit long before your body actually needs to.

    •    Rest if you must, but keep moving. Wanting a break is human. Giving up is a choice.
