Meet Makenna! Makenna is a Communications Lead here at Element, where she oversees social media strategy, communications planning, and project management for a variety of clients. Equal parts strategist and social media enthusiast, Makenna has a keen eye for social strategy and a knack for creating meaningful content that connects the client to their audience.

Born and raised in Sitka, Makenna is excited to be home after obtaining a masters degree from the University of San Diego and a bachelor's degree from Gonzaga University. Outside of work, you’ll find Makenna on a walk with her dog, Ivy, or spending time with friends!

Say hello to Victoria! Victoria is a Communications Lead at Element. She specializes in thoughtful communication, helping clients tell authentic stories while building relationships within the community of Sitka. With an admirable attention to detail and a talent for keeping every project on track, Victoria brings a calculated and curious approach to every project.

Victoria moved to Sitka in 2019 and has been proud to call it home ever since. In 2025, she received the Alaska Travel Industry Association’s Aurora Award for Emerging Leaders, and she currently serves on the organization’s board of directors. We are so lucky to have Victoria on our team!

We love seeing our work in the wild! The Ski-Mobile was designed for the Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage as a resource to get more kids in the Anchorage School District on skis.

Meet Jay! Jay is a designer at Element, specializing in brand identity, publications, environmental graphics, and print design. Thoughtful and detail-oriented by nature, Jay enjoys finding creative solutions that bring every client's vision to life. Fun fact: Jay was Element's first employee more than 10 years ago, and he's back with us today!

In between his time at Element, Jay served as Art Director at Fresh Ale Pubs, where he designed everything from beer labels to concert posters for some of Anchorage’s most popular restaurants, including Moose’s Tooth, Bear Tooth, and Broken Tooth Brewing.

Originally from Anchorage, Jay now calls Seattle home. Outside of work, you'll usually find him hiking with his dog, Walter, or playing cards with friends!

Here's a look at one of last year’s favorite branding projects!

A longtime local Sitka family asked us to modernize their iconic Sitka Bazaar brand, while developing brand identities for two new retail concepts: a neighborhood candy store and an Alaska gift shop. Each brand needed to reflect the unique character of each business while creating a cohesive family of brands that complemented their business portfolio. From naming to concept development and logo design, and color palettes to typography, every decision was made with the customer experience in mind. We hope you love these brands as much as we loved creating them!

Emily brings more than a decade of experience helping organizations tell their stories through strategic communication, photography, and film-making across the state of Alaska. She has a background in community-led land advocacy that is reflected in her curious, collaborative approach to various projects at Element.

An outdoors enthusiast, Emily spent 8 years guiding in Denali National Park before joining our team. Outside of work, you’ll likely find Emily on backcountry skis, berry picking in the mountains, or taking the coolest pictures for her Instagram.
