Can AI make your job site safer and save you hours of paperwork?

Here’s a quick look at a process similar to how I’ve been using AI to quickly draft Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) documents at work.

By automating the initial draft, I can ensure standard controls are covered. That leaves me to focus on the high-value work: reviewing the output, researching anything that looks off, adding or subtracting content based on the real-world environment, and submitting for approval.

Why this is a game-changer:
Massive Time Saver: It cuts through the heavy lifting of compliance and safety paperwork.
Blind Spot Detection: It helps flag potential risks I might not have immediately thought of, increasing my awareness of potential risks.
The Ultimate Goal: It streamlines the process to ensure that everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.

An AHA is a proactive safety process. AI tools serve only to flag risks in the supplied information—they do not replace a competent person’s judgment.

Limitations do exist. AI cannot detect non-visible hazards (like chemical exposure or noise levels), nor can it understand the full context of a live work activity. It supports the process by identifying patterns, but a qualified individual must validate these risks and determine the final mitigating controls.

Pro tip: Ask your favorite AI what additional context you can provide to improve the output at the end of your prompt.

If you run a business in Alaska, you know the pain of keeping inventory pricing accurate when supplier price sheets change weekly.

At my job managing operations for Yukon Fire Protection, I used to spend hours cross-referencing vendor pricing sheets with our internal inventory. It was tedious and eye-straining work that took me away from actual operations.

Recently, I built a simple AI workflow to handle this. Now, I feed it the new vendor spreadsheets, and it automatically compares them against our current pricing, flags the changes, and updates our master list. What used to take at least half a day now takes about 5 minutes.

That's why I'm starting AI for AK. I want to help other local businesses stop drowning in busywork so they can get back to actually running their business.

Less busywork. More business.

What's the one manual task you wish you never had to do again?
