People talk about "needing" super-fast internet connections, but what does your house *really* need? 🏠
Here are some general home internet speed recommendations:
For streaming videos in standard definition, you’ll need internet speeds of at least 3 Mbps, and you’ll need at least 15- 25 Mbps for 4K streaming video on your computer or Ultra HD-enabled devices.
Keep in mind that you need to add these numbers for each additional person in your house. So if you have two people that watch online videos in standard definition at the same time, you need at least 6mbps, and so forth.
For online gaming, you need minimum speeds of 3-6 Mbps per person, but for a competitive gaming experience, 10-25 Mbps tend to be best.
For working from home, the best internet speed depends on what kind of work you do. If you frequently download and upload large files, higher speeds are recommended.
No matter what you use the internet for at home, we recommend getting slightly faster speeds than streaming, video chat, or online shopping services require for optimal performance!
