Today we're celebrating another milestone anniversary! 🎉

Congratulations to Ilir Spaho who celebrates 5 years with us this month. During his time, he has worked on client projects such as Electro-Matic, DocShop Pro, Ford, NoIR, Pentair, Duallane, and more.

In his own words:
"What I value most about working at Human Element is the people and the trust that comes with the work. Over these five years I've been able to grow constantly, take on challenging projects, and collaborate with a team that genuinely supports each other. It's a place where good work is recognized and where I've always felt encouraged to keep learning."

We're glad you're here, Ilir!

Your eCommerce platform is only as good as the data flowing into and out of it. And in B2B, that data rarely lives in one place.

Inventory might come from a WMS. Pricing may live in the ERP. Product content could come from a PIM. Customer information may need to sync with a CRM. Then an order has to make its way through accounting, fulfillment, sales, and potentially several other systems.

That’s where eCommerce integrations get complicated fast.

Human Element’s Jason Magee recently sat down with Robert Rand of https://hubs.li/Q04txQVP0 to talk about why understanding your data flows—and establishing a clear source of truth for each one—is such an important part of eCommerce planning.

In this clip from our podcast, Beyond the Cart, hear Jason and Robert discuss why the goal isn’t just to connect systems, it’s to make the entire tech stack work together.

📣 We're excited to announce we’ve partnered with Zamp to help our clients simplify sales tax compliance as their eCommerce businesses grow.

As merchants expand into new states, channels, and markets, sales tax can get complicated fast. Zamp combines technology with hands-on tax expertise to manage everything from nexus monitoring and registrations to calculations, filings, remittance, and notice management.

For Human Element clients, that means access to another specialized partner who can help remove operational complexity and keep teams focused on growth.

We’re excited to welcome Zamp to the Human Element partner ecosystem and give our clients one less thing to worry about as they scale.

In this week's blog post, Client Strategy Team Lead Dane Dickerson wrestles with two seemingly opposing ideas: are we using AI too much or not enough?

"Two conflicting pressures have been running in parallel in the AI conversation. One says you're not using enough: 'AI-first' companies are mandating that engineers burn tokens worth multiples of their salary, and doing anything less signals you're not serious. The other says you're using too much: AI is consuming catastrophic amounts of energy, feeding a data center crisis, and responsible companies should feel conflicted about it."

Dane walks through the process he used to answer the question. It's complicated, for sure, but his conclusion helps quiet the hype around both issues.

Two ends of the AI usage question: are we using AI too much or not enough? Dane Dickerson explores AI energy usage and tokenmaxxing.

Shopify's recent decision to ban va**ng products across its platform turns out to be a cautionary tale not just for regulated industries, but for all online merchants. đźš«

We gathered a group of Human Element subject matter experts to talk through what Shopify's decision means for regulated and non-regulated industries alike.

After discussing the nuances of this particular situation, we came to a conclusion that rings true for all online businesses:

Having a "digital go bag" can help protect against threats to your online store that are outside of your control.

Thanks to our panelists Sabra Ba**er, Dane Dickerson, Kevin Gardner, Gary Goodman, Emily Kania, and Jason Magee for the conversation!

What should be in the digital go bag? Find out at the link.

After pressure from a bipartisan coalition of 25 state attorneys general, Shopify recently ordered all electronic ni****ne delivery systems (ENDS) merchants to remove va**ng products from their online stores built on its eCommerce platform. While the coalition was specifically targeting illegal sell...

What does it take to survive a summer as a Human Element intern?

Apparently, strong ideas, a willingness to learn, and a solid answer to what was the biggest shock about our work culture.

In honor of National Intern Day, we put our intern, Xander Mentzer, through a rapid-fire interview with Dane Dickerson covering everything from the most confusing agency acronym to who should play him in a movie about Human Element.

Hit play to hear about his experience, favorite project, and the agency acronym he may (or may not) understand yet.

Thanks for being part of the team, Xander!

Today, we remember and celebrate the life of our co-founder, Ben Lorenz, on his birthday.

Milestones like this (Ben’s first birthday since his passing) are always challenging to address. In fact, we debated about making this post at all. But in the end, we felt like we wanted to honor Ben and everything he brought to Human Element.

While we miss him every day, Ben’s legacy lives on at Human Element. His influence is apparent in how we work, how we support each other, and how we serve our clients.

Today we’re taking a moment to remember who he was to us: a leader, a mentor, a friend.

Happy heavenly birthday, Ben! Thank you for everything you gave to Human Element and to all of us who had the privilege of knowing you. Your legacy lives on. đź’™

We're excited for our client, BB Industries, who successfully migrated their eCommerce platform from Magento to BigCommerce using their own internal development team.

While we normally provide full-service integration, in this case, our role was to support the client with our experience and help guide them through the process. We advised on theme customization, ERP integration best practices, B2B functionality guidance, and more.

“Sometimes the best partnership is not about taking over,” said Sabra Ba**er, director of account management at Human Element. “It’s about knowing when to lead, when to advise, and when to support the client’s team as they do the work. That flexibility is a huge part of how we define true partnership.”
