If modernization starts with tools, you may already be behind.

The strongest federal programs begin with:

▪️ Mission objectives
▪️ Constraints
▪️ Security priorities
▪️ Integration needs
▪️ Performance requirements

Then procurement follows. Architecture should guide acquisition, not the other way around.

At CyKor, our Mission Advantage starts with understanding the mission first and then selecting the right technology. Check out the blog from our CTO, Jon Stephens, to learn how architecture‑led planning leads to better outcomes: cykor.io/ETM

CyKor is attending the Training & Simulation Industry Symposium (TSIS) 2026 this week, joining government, military, and industry leaders to discuss the future of mission readiness, training innovation, and defense modernization.

As agencies continue to evaluate how emerging technologies can strengthen operational effectiveness, this year's TSIS agenda highlights many of the priorities shaping the federal landscape, including AI-enabled capabilities, acquisition and funding strategies, digital modernization, and the technologies supporting the warfighter of the future.

These conversations closely align with CyKor's focus on helping federal organizations modernize infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity, enable secure communications, and implement scalable technology solutions that support mission success in complex environments.

TSIS provides a valuable opportunity to engage with leaders across the defense community, exchange perspectives on evolving mission requirements, and gain insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of defense readiness.

If you'll be attending TSIS this week, Joshua Berkowitz would love to connect and discuss the technologies and modernization initiatives making an impact across the federal landscape.

Industrial security cannot rely on assumptions of trust.

Operational Technology environments require a different approach, one that accounts for uptime, safety, and the reality of connected industrial systems supporting essential operations.

CyKor helps organizations bring Zero Trust principles beyond the office network and into the environments where continuity matters most.

Before joining CyKor, Chris had a front-row seat to the company's growth. What stood out wasn't just how quickly the company scaled, but the caliber of talent it attracted and the reputation it built across customers, partners, and the industry.

When the opportunity came to join CyKor as a Client Director, it felt like the right next step. He wanted to be part of a team that was building something meaningful, helping customers solve real challenges, and driving mission outcomes that matter.

That decision was reinforced during his first Sales Kickoff. Meeting employees from across the company and experiencing the level of alignment around the mission confirmed he had made the right move.

Chris approaches his work with a philosophy that has shaped his career: focus on helping, not selling. Through years of working alongside federal customers, he learned that when you listen, solve real problems, and put the mission first, the sale often takes care of itself.

That mindset is one of the many reasons he has quickly become a valued member of the team. As Wayne Jefferson, VP of Sales, shared, “Chris is the standard we should all strive to emulate across sales organizations in this industry. The level of care, commitment, and professionalism he brings to his customers, our partners, and his colleagues is second to none. Chris is a true leader, teammate, and champion for the Navy mission, and CyKor is a stronger, more capable TSP because of what he brings to our team every day.”

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his two daughters, ages 9 and 7, along with his 11-year-old Golden Retriever, Sunny. An avid surfer, skateboarder, and motorcyclist, he is always looking for his next adventure. He is also a die-hard Padres fan.

Chris's commitment to serving customers, supporting the mission, and putting people first makes him a valued part of the CyKor team.

What We Do Matters, especially in Sales.

At CyKor, every mission-driven solution begins with how our sales organization engages. Early in the process, the focus is already on understanding the mission, the environment, and the outcomes our customers must achieve. As Michael Hager shared, no one on the team treats this work as just a job, and that shared purpose shapes how the team operates.

That mindset is essential for a Technology Solutions Provider supporting complex federal environments. Before architecture or engineering begins, our sales team works to bridge mission needs with the technical solutions required to support them. Precision, clarity, and trust guide every engagement.

As Ethan Groff emphasized, the team’s efficiency and precision are core to its identity. Every member is deliberate with their time, focused on the right priorities, and disciplined in their approach. Communication is immediate and dependable, allowing the team to respond quickly and accurately when the mission requires it.

Several qualities consistently define the CyKor sales team:

▪️ Precision and efficiency in addressing customer needs
▪️ Collaboration that accelerates problem solving
▪️ Deep familiarity with modernization, cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure
▪️ A culture grounded in trust, accountability, and technical understanding

Our sales discipline mirrors the structure of our engineering and delivery teams:

✔️ Listen to the mission challenge
✔️ Align the right expertise and resources
✔️ Execute with speed, accuracy, and measurable impact

In federal environments, success is determined by trust, technical excellence, and mission readiness.

As Brady O’Neil shared, the team is driven, loyal, and collaborative. Those three qualities capture the energy behind how we support each other and how we support our customers every day.

The CyKor sales team is a mission-aligned, technically grounded organization committed to delivering solutions that perform where they are needed most.

What We Do Matters, and our sales team demonstrates that every day.

The traditional federal acquisition model isn't moving at the speed of the mission.

That's one of the biggest shifts we're seeing across the federal IT landscape today. Agencies are under increasing pressure to deliver capability faster, respond to evolving mission requirements, and accelerate modernization efforts. As a result, acquisition strategies are changing.

From OTAs and Rapid Capability Offices to alternative contracting approaches, the focus is shifting from lengthy procurement cycles to a much simpler question: How quickly can capability reach the mission?

In this video, David Ray shares his perspective on one of the most significant trends shaping federal IT today and why speed to capability is becoming a driving force behind acquisition decisions.

Because modernization isn't measured by how technology is acquired.

It's measured by what that technology enables the mission to accomplish.

Industrial environments do not operate like traditional IT. Power systems, water treatment facilities, manufacturing operations, transportation networks, and other critical infrastructure depend on continuous uptime, safety, and operational resilience.

CyKor’s Industrial Zero Trust approach is designed specifically for these conditions. By applying identity-based access, least privilege, micro-segmentation, and continuous monitoring across Operational Technology environments, CyKor helps organizations strengthen security without compromising the systems operations depend on most.

The result is a more resilient approach to cyber defense that helps reduce risk, contain threats, and support continuity across mission-critical environments.

Last week, CyKor was proud to sponsor the AFCEA San Diego Chapter Tech Talk series, bringing together government, defense, and industry leaders to discuss emerging technologies, mission readiness, and the future of national security innovation.

As a trusted partner supporting the defense and federal community, CyKor is committed to advancing mission-focused technology solutions that strengthen operational effectiveness and foster long-term collaboration across industry and government.

Chris Dougherty, CyKor Client Director and Deputy Sponsorship Chair for AFCEA San Diego, represented our team at the event and highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships that not only drive innovation but also support STEM scholarships for local students and future technology leaders. CyKor team members Richard McGaughey and Brett Davis were also in attendance, helping strengthen connections across the AFCEA San Diego community.

Conversations like these are critical as the defense community continues to navigate cybersecurity, digital transformation, and evolving mission requirements in an increasingly complex environment.

Thank you to AFCEA San Diego and everyone who participated in this important discussion. We’re proud to contribute to initiatives that support both mission success and the next generation of innovators.
