This is a message from our CISO Walt Whitten, Every U.S. citizens ssn number has been compromised.

'm surprised this isn't making bigger headlines, but in case you haven't heard, every American's social security number has been compromised. Reports are indicating that an illegal hacking group called USDoD has allegedly leaked 2.7 billion personal records, including social security numbers, full names, and home addresses. This data was reportedly stolen from National Public Data (NPD), a background check agency that provides sensitive information to employers, staffing agencies, and private investigators during screening processes.

What does this mean for us? Our personal information, including social security numbers and physical addresses, is now circulating on the dark web. With this information, someone could potentially open new credit card accounts, take out personal loans, or even attempt to refinance a mortgage in your name.

To protect yourself, you should immediately go to the credit bureau agencies and freeze (free) or lock (paid) your credit profile. This process is simple and can be easily reversed if you need to access your credit report later. Don't wait—take action today. Your social security number is already out there, and it's only a matter of time before someone tries to exploit it.
