Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, safety-minded Telecommunications & Low Voltage Foreman to lead our field deployment teams. This position requires regular travel with out-of-town overnight stays throughout our regional service area.
Key Responsibilities
• Field Supervision: Oversee and direct daily operations of installation crews, optimizing on-site workflows and assigning technical tasks.
• Blueprint & Design Ex*****on: Read, interpret, and implement network infrastructure maps and architectural plans designed by our on-staff Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD).
• Structured Cabling Operations: Lead the deployment, termination, and verification testing of massive Category 6, Cat6A, and coaxial network infrastructures.
• Fiber Optic Infrastructure: Coordinate complex single-mode and multi-mode fiber routing, managing high-precision cable terminations, backbone builds, and splicing operations using our proprietary in-house equipment.
• OSP Deployment: Manage Outside Plant (OSP) installations across expansive landscapes, ensuring durability against external environments.
• Passive Optical Networks (PON): Supervise the layout and device integrations for advanced PON architectures, including TDMA-based systems.
• CCTV Surveillance Systems: Oversee the physical mounting, wiring, and hardware deployment of high-definition commercial video surveillance cameras and recording arrays.
• Quality Assurance & Standards: Audit and inspect all technical connections, data racks, and paths to ensure complete alignment with BICSI standards.
• Safety Management: Enforce on-site safety policies and maintain active job site compliance according to OSHA guidelines.
• Project Reporting: Document daily progress logs, track material utilization, and maintain clear communication lines with the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of active experience in low-voltage field installations, with at least 1–2 years serving in a leadership, foreman, or crew lead capacity.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in copper terminations, fiber optic splicing, and testing protocols.
• Certifications: Active BICSI Certification (Installer 2 or Technician level preferred).
• Safety Credential: Active OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification is preferred. (If you do not currently hold this certification, Modern Edge Technology Solutions, Inc. has an on-staff OSHA 500 certified trainer who can provide your official certification upon hire).
• Travel Availability: Absolute willingness and ability to fulfill required out-of-town overnight stays for regional projects.
• Mobility: Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and possess the flexibility to travel to project locations throughout North Carolina and the Southeast.
Preferred Skills
• Practical experience executing blueprints drafted by an RCDD.
• Familiarity with Outside Plant (OSP) safety rules, pathway designs, and heavy-duty environments.
• Deep understanding of high-bandwidth data infrastructure testing and fluke network reporting.
Travel, Lodging & Per Diem Policy
We believe in taking care of our field leadership while they are away from home. Our regional travel package includes:
• Company-Paid Lodging: All out-of-town hotel accommodations are arranged and paid for directly by the company. Foremen are provided with clean, safe, and comfortable corporate-approved rooms (never paid out-of-pocket by the employee).
• Daily Per Diem Allowance: Employees receive a tax-free daily cash allowance ($30 per diem) to cover meals and incidental expenses for every night spent away from home. This is paid out directly on your regular paycheck or via a company expense framework.
• Travel Provisions & Paid Drive Time: Travel to and from regional job sites is coordinated using company fleet vehicles. We pay for all drive time directly to and from the job site, ensuring you are compensated for your full time on the road.
• Fleet Safety Standards: To protect our teams, equipment, and company liability, all fleet vehicles are equipped with active dash and cab cameras.
• Schedule Predictability: While project timelines vary, out-of-town deployments are typically structured around standard shift blocks (e.g., 4-day or 5-day work weeks), allowing our field teams to return home for their weekends.
