We have wrapped up work on the very last piece we will provide for HonorAir Knoxville.

We were key when was starting up and continued to provide our services until the recent final flight on April 8, 2026. Throughout the 18 years and 37 flights we managed getting the totes given to each veteran, HonorAir caps, pins, and iron-on HonorAir badges. Our work varied from typesetting entire commemorative brochures to coordinating the flight memorabilia.

It was our honor to be a part of this important recognition of the service men and women who served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

We came across an odd abbreviation while reading “Bleeding Edge” - a 2013 novel by Thomas Pynchon.

&c is an old fashioned way of saying “etcetera” that might date back to the Civil War era. It’s out of place, and out of time, used in this novel that is set in the early 2000’s. It appears in stark contrast to the subject matter of the technology boom of the aughts.

Folk art is ever present in our local culture and an important part of our country’s history. Our 2026 calendar features a folk art quilt square designed by Bailey. It was inspired by barn squares from around the South and by her own mother’s hobby as a quilter.

The color palette was chosen from the predominant colors found around her home. Pink and orange to promote calm and creativity. Shades of green to symbolize growth and good health.

We recently saw the electro/techno group Purity Ring perform at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. They had an impressive graphics display!
Initially there were eight asterisk-shaped machines on stage. As the show began, the machines were powered to spin super fast and used LED blades to create the illusion of a hologram in mid-air. The LEDs light up at precise moments, and when the fan spins, your eyes blend the lights together forming a realistic, floating 3D video or image! Truly mesmerizing.

We had some tree work done last week by the Cortese Tree Specialists. Richards Design Group designed their logo over 40 years ago, and it has served them well throughout all these years. Cortese was purchased by The Davy Tree Expert Company in 2014, but they kept the Cortese logo because of its strength and the reputation of its brand in Knoxville.

The M. S. McClellan Fall Events are in full swing! This double gatefold mailer has become the traditional design we use to showcase a photo-rich calendar of events for both the men’s and women’s departments. It looks good enough to hang on your refrigerator for the next few months as a reminder of all the great opportunities this store has to offer.
