Debate Team at Georgia Tech is a Georgia Tech Registered Student Organization that competes in Public, Parliamentary, and Worlds Debate competitions and NFA, AFA, and ASC Speaking competitions. Overview:
Debate Team at Georgia Tech competes in various forms of Speech and Debate, in addition to offering General Body meetings which occasionally serve as forums for the discussion of ideas. Our team i
s devolved into two subteams, "Speech Team" and "Public Debate Team," who have their own dedicated subteam meetings separate from our overall General Body Meetings. General Body meetings often see less structured forms of Speech and Debate where members are invited to suspend the usual restrictions of a format structure. This system allows members to select to attend any combination of Speech, Debate, and General Body meetings. We do not require dues. Our Mission Statement:
-To provide an open medium for students to debate motions and issues of all natures allowing the community to explore both the factual and axiological dimensions of these issues.
-To develop critical thinking, public speaking, and research skills through competitive debate.
-To facilitate student’s understanding of new facts and ethical/cultural perspectives. How to get involved:
