Burnout can happen to anyone, in any industry. When you start to feel burnt out, it may seem as though you'll never recover.

Here are some steps to help:

- Disconnect from work. Remove work emails from your phone along with apps or anything else that will send work-related notifications

- Get organized. Sometimes the number of tasks we have to do is what overwhelms us. Break things down into smaller tasks and focus on those

- Communicate about your feelings. Talk to your boss and coworkers.
Not only will you find you're not alone, you may find you are able to improve your schedule or workload to ease burnout

Cover letters.

Nobody likes writing them, but they're necessary for most job applications...and that's a good thing!

While writing about yourself can feel awkward, a cover letter allows you to expand on your qualifications beyond the resume bullet points.

Although it might be tempting to rush through writing it, make sure to take time to proofread and cater each cover letter for the specific organization you're applying to.

This demonstrates a genuine interest in the position and that you'll take the job seriously.

Think about cover letters as a sort of "pre-interview" and let your (professional) personality shine through!

Functional resumes focus on your skills more than specific experience.

This type of resume is useful if you've had gaps in employment but you've still been developing skills.

It's also the ideal resume type if you have limited or no related experience in the desired field but have transferable skills.

"Do you have any questions you'd like to ask us?"

If this question has made you freeze up during an interview before, you're not alone.
Many applicants may spend hours practicing how to answer questions about themselves that they forget that interviews are also the time to ask the interviewer any questions.

If you're drawing a blank on what type of questions you could ask, consider these areas:

Ask about the position. A job listing can only give so much information. This is a great time to ask what a typical work day/week might look like. What are some examples of projects you might work on? What is the team dynamic like?

Ask about the company. Here you can ask about the short and long-term goals of the company or discuss how the mission of the company aligns with your values. Just make sure that these questions can't easily be answered on the company site.

Ask about the interviewer. Interviewers are often the people you will directly work with. What was their career path before coming here? Why did they choose this company? This is a great way to get to know your potential future colleagues!

And finally, ask about the next steps. Is there any other information you can provide that the interviewer might find useful?

And of course, don't forget to thank the interviewer for their time!

Considering a skills-based resume?

A skills-based resume (also known as a functional resume) is an alternative to the traditional, chronological resume. Skills-based resumes focus on your transferable skills, instead of your work history.

This might be a good option for those with limited relevant work experience or those with large gaps in their work history.

We hired Resource Wranglers to help find an executive assistant in Atlanta. I've worked with a few staffing agencies and am used to it being a lengthy and drawn out process before identifying a candidate that meets our needs. I was incredibly impressed with how quickly Resource Wranglers was able to line up candidates that met our criteria! Doing so allowed us to actually come in under budget for staffing for this role, and we had an EA hired one month after our initial meeting. I look forward to working with Lance and the team at Resource Wranglers again!

Have you ever had a mini identity crisis after being asked to tell someone about yourself?

Interviewers ask this question all the time to break the ice and get the interview rolling.

So, is there a right way to answer this question?

Not exactly, but there's a formula that can help you start off on the right foot.

- Start with the present. Tell the interviewer about your current role, whether that's being a student or working full time. Throw in a recent accomplishment for good measure.

- Go over your past roles. If you're a student talk about how you selected your major, if you've had other jobs discuss how you got into those roles. Make sure the experiences you mention are relevant to the job you're applying for.

- Look to the future. Discuss where you'd like to be in the future and how this role fits into that vision (and how you fit the role).

If your resume isn't getting any responses, you may have made one of these common resume mistakes:

- Forgetting to proofread. A resume with spelling errors is not a good look.

- Including too much information. Employers want concise, effective communicators. Your resume should convey relevant experience without being too long.

- Confusing layout. If the hiring manager cannot quickly identify your work experience, your resume will likely be skipped over.

- Over/underselling yourself. While it's important to highlight your strengths, make sure you are giving a realistic self-assessment. On the other hand, make sure you don't let humbleness obscure your talents.

- Not tailoring to each position.

We know it's annoying to change up your resume over and over, but trust us, it'll help! ๐Ÿงก
