We love when technology can connect people from around the world, break down barriers, and amplify the potential of ordinary people, who otherwise would lack the resources to achieve their dreams. Krebs on Security reports that Experian credit monitoring accounts can be hacked with relative ease. If you have an account at Experian, please look out for any emails saying that your email account has been changed. Of course, do not click on any links in the email because it could be a phishing email, but rather go directly to the website. Also, many of us use “secret questions” for our accounts that can be answered easily with information from our profiles on Facebook or LinkedIn. Consider using a standard set of nonsensical answers to secret questions. Mothers maiden name? Monday. Model of first car? Tuesday. The website doesn’t care what answers you give, but hackers do!

Supply chain issues are rumored to bump the price of the iPhone up 14 by $100. This is despite the fact that there will be virtually no improvements between the iPhone 13 and 14. The most new features will come from iOS 16, which cost nothing to install on compatible iPhone models. Our advice? Buy an iPhone 13 and save at least $200 after the 14 comes out and prices drop on older models, or wait until next fall for the inevitable iPhone 15.

A big price increase may be coming to all iPhone 14 models...

We all read about when big companies like Home Depot, Target or Microsoft are hacked. But according to an analysis of phishing emails, businesses with under 100 employees receive 350% times more phishing and social engineering emails than larger companies! Make sure your staff is trained at least annually to recognize and report - phishing emails, malicious websites and other cybercriminal tactics!

When it comes to avoiding cyber attacks, bigger is apparently better. At least that’s acocrding to a new report that shows small businesses are three times more likley to be targeted by cyber criminals than larger companies.

With today being both Quatorze Juillet - Independence Day in France, and the middle of the 2022 Tour de France cycling race, we thought we would take a look at the amazing technology being used in this year’s race. Unlike a soccer match or baseball game held in a stadium, the Tour is a sports event with many times more participants that literally moves around the country every day! A new technology called Digital Twin, from Japanese firm NTT, is making it easier for everyone from Team managers to fans to keep up with the action!

Hackers have begun using hate speech warnings to phish verified Twitter users. Elite Twitterati, with the coveted blue check (Verified) are receiving messages telling them that their account has been flagged for hate speech, and that they need to enter their Twitter account credentials on a webpage - all 100% fraudulent of course. This scam confirms the wisdom of our Phishing Rule #3, Be careful when responding to emails that seem urgent or seem designed to elicit an emotional response! You may not have a verified Twitter account, but hackers would be delighted to get any credentials that you can be tricked into giving them!

We take a look at reports that verified Twitter accounts are being targeted by scammers with claims of hate speech.
