8:30 Thank you everyone for your patience this morning.

We only have 2 outages impacting about 2 dozen customers.

One is far west Cass County. There is a tower without power and the battery has run out. We would run a generator out there however we know none of the houses without a generator have power either so we are going to wait for the power to be restored unless it lasts more than another hour.

The other is south of Atlantic (south of Kipp's house) where REC is currently onsite repairing the power line. They are saying about a hour.

At this point if you have power and neither of those apply to you and you do not have service let us know.

6:49 Obviously a lot of power outages in and around Atlantic right now. All of our critical infrastructure is up, we do have a tower off west of town, running out there now to see what is going on. Seeing the cell networks a little overloaded due to everyone being on them. Lots of trees shredded and limbs down. Give those power crews some room and patience this morning!

Good morning everyone!
If you are not awake yet you will be in a few minutes.

Key weather/internet/utility tips no matter who your provider is:
If you have no power there is no WiFi.
If your power blinks it may take a couple minutes for your router to come back online.
No need to call your provider unless your Internet has been out for over a hour and there has been no update as to why.

Kind of a long winded post today...

Devon and I spent a combined 7 hours getting a pair of WiFi garage doors working today. It’s not that we don’t know how, we have this exact model ourselves. Connecting to routers we have hundreds of. At the end of the day we had a customer who had garage door openers that did not work and that needed fixed. Around 6pm tonight it was finally fixed.

We get many calls “The Internet is not working!” and not just our Internet customers. 90% of the time those problems are inside the home or business.

This is where I am proud of the customer service level we provide above anyone else. We built every single inch of this network ourselves. Installed almost every single customer together. When you call we know you have a Sony TV in the living room that can’t keep time, and so do your folks… we know exactly where Tommy’s xbox is in the house and he likes to stack the games on top of the antenna blocking the WiFi signal. Thousands of devices connecting to the Internet every minute hundreds of times a day.

I know to some it’s an odd concept we don’t measure our business on the number of customers we have but the relationship we have with each and every one of you. We understand when problems do come up and we will invest 7 agonizing hours solving a simple problem so we can solve it again with someone else who is stuck… and not just say “Internet is fine, call someone else.”

Thank you everyone who trusts us to be their connectivity partner. We know you have choices and we could have gone the “go millions in debt route” to be a gigantic company who does not have meaningful relationships with their customers and just keeps rasing prices to pay for it. That’s not us. Not today and not tomorrow.

Don’t think a technology or price is better than NISHNANET. Just ask and we will be happy to discuss what we do differently and if it’s not working how we can help. It’s not always “The Internet” sometimes it’s something simple, sometimes it takes 7 hours to figure out.

We never upsell more than you need and we have never raised prices on customers who signed up directly with us. The price you paid in 2018 is the same price you pay in 2026 and hopefully 2030 for that matter. No contracts, no extra “gotchas” just honest local service.

PS: About those TV's that can't keep time. Totally breaks Netflix. Little trick of the trade for ya there. I think about 5 of our customers own these luckily Sony finally fixed the software. :)

I'm told we need to share more positive things on here instead of just information about outages :) The day before a holiday is typically pretty slow so we try to do some clean up work. Today we ran out to Willow Heights to restore some systems we had donated to its previous nonprofit tenant to be used again by its new nonprofit tenant. Last week we donated outdoor wireless for the food pantry for their new tablet check in system. We spend about 8-12 hours a week donating our time to local nonprofits and over a dozen nonprofits receive free or reduced cost Internet service each month.

That's always fun! Like I always say Internet is easy and power is hard. We see about 20 customers without Internet they are all in the same general area so pretty sure there is no power. All towers are online and working normally. If you have power, and no Internet please text the office 7122432497 and include your address. Thanks!
