First offering by RockIt Audio.
This system is built around a JVC R-1X Receiver rated at 25 watts per channel at .03% THD. A sweet sounding solid receiver in a compact package. Fully functional with all k***s and switches intact, all lights working pots and switched cleaned and lubricated and a nearly flawless faceplate. Manufactured in 1981 by Victor Company of Japan, this little R-1XS really surprised me with build quality and soundstage. A fully automatic JVC turntable JL-35 with newer Audio Technica cartridge pairs nicely with the receiver and has classic vinyl sound. The spindle was serviced by another local collector who specializes in refurbishing turntables. There are some scuff marks in the cover that didn't polish out but the cover is solid with no cracks or deep scratches. After testing this system with several different pairs of speakers I ended up matching it up with a pair of iconic and highly regarded Klipsch KG-1 speakers in walnut veneer. The speakers are in full working order and sound great. I refinished the walnut veneer cabinets and repaired a few small dings in the veneer which are now hardly noticeable. I also replaced the grille cloth and retained the original Klipsch badges. These were built in the USA in 1994 when founder Paul Klipsch was still alive and before Klipsch sold to Audiovox and moved most of the manufacturing overseas. Paul Klipsch was one of the greatest audio engineers and speakers designers ever. Interestingly he was a Hoosier son, born in Elkhart, IN in 1904. Paul who founded Klipsch in 1946 in Hope, AK lived to be 98, held 23 patents and was inducted into the Audio Hall of Fame. Overall I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a nicer, better sounding system anywhere near this price range. I'm right at $375 in components and parts not including any hours of labor cleaning, servicing, restoring and testing the system. I've had this on my bench as a daily driver now for several days running a Bluetooth streaming converter which can be included with the system for an additional $30 and turns this into an awesome sounding personal jukebox. This system would be perfect for a dorm room, beach house, cabin or den or really anywhere you don't want to knock the pictures off the walls when you crank it up. Although vinyl sounds very good on this system, If I were to keep this system I would probably end up investing in a little higher grade phono cartridge which you, as the new owner could certainly do if you chose. I could make some specific recommendations if interested, starting with the Audio Technica AT-VM95E which has the nicer elliptical stylus and cost around $70 or the Ortofon Red for about $100.
