Last Friday the EMA (Envelope Manufacturers Association) launched the Stop the Postal Rate Hike Campaign. This is our last shot at stopping the July 14 rate hike. We need the number of letters to be BIG to get attention and make the Board of Governors take immediate action. We are at nearly 1,500 letters and counting. We have 1 more week to make the US Mailing Industry’s voice heard so please get everyone in your companies, networks and anyone that cares about mail and Diamond Envelope to take action – it takes 2 minutes tops!

While most of you are primarily celebrating the 4th of July holiday weekend, Diamond Envelope has a celebration of their own. July 2nd marks our 39th year in business. We are celebrating today with a delicious cookout and dessert contest with all our staff. Our staff, customers, industry partners that more than vendors, friends, and families, we thank you all and appreciate every one of you that have contributed to our success. Our Diamond Envelope team had a great time at National Postal Forum as first time exhibitors. They even had a little fun. Can you guess which United States Postal Service Man in Uniform Shannon came home with for the Memorial Day holiday weekend?

Today is National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day honoring all small business owners. This day allows us to reflect on our foundation and beginning where Diamond Envelope was born, in the basement of Alan & Judy's Park Ridge, IL home. We can never forget where we came from, as it has shaped who we have become today and how we will grow into the future. We sure have grown from that basement! Some of our staff from the beginnings in 1984 are still with us today and we are proud of that! We congratulate all the new businesses and small businesses getting off the ground. Owning your own business is a goal that many people strive to attain. It takes long hours, hard work, and much dedication. Countless hours of nurturing the business are needed to grow the business. You can do it!

Small businesses are a vital part of the United States economy, and the critical role they play is sometimes overlooked. Some of these Mom and Pop shops are handed down from one generation to the next while others are new start-ups. “Mom and Pop” businesses offer superior customer service as the owners take personal pride in their operations as well as pride in their communities.

Our partners only harvest from working, sustainably managed forests. The promise of paper depends on healthy & productive forest ecosystems. The primary source of our envelopes is paper (wood fiber), a highly renewable resource. Partnership with mill-direct vendors, committed to the long-term health of the forests we love keeps that promise growing. We want to work with mills that keep the forestland forested and our future rooted in the forest.
