These several short verses, known as Gathas, can help us with mindful breathing, especially during times of change and transition. ⁣

By saying each verse in our mind, as we breathe in and out, we join the breath, the body and mind which invites us into relaxation. This also gives the mind something to focus on as we breathe.⁣

When we breathe consciously, the mind begins to slow and the body begins to relax ~ calming our nervous system. ⁣

Take a moment today to pause and breathe. Be kind and compassionate towards yourself as you move through this week. 🙏🏻

1. Start by checking in with mind, body, spirit.⁠
2. Make a list of whatever comes to mind ~ think about how you want to feel (emotion, energy, etc) or consider what you want to accomplish.⁠
3. Pick something that resonates most with you today.⁠
4. Write it down and say it out loud. ⁠
5. Revisit it throughout the day⁠

Remember that an intention shouldn’t be confused with a goal—it’s not something you attach an expectation or evaluation to. It’s just something you want to align with in your life. It’s an aim, a purpose, or attitude you’d be proud to commit to.

Mindfulness has been shown to have physical, mental and emotional benefits when practiced regularly. ⁣

But what is mindfulness, really? ⁣

Mindfulness is awareness in the present moment. It’s our full attention in the here and now. That’s it. ⁣

When we bring our full attention to the here and now, we are being mindful. Studies have shown that when we practice being mindful changes occur in your brain that decreases our stress response while increasing our capacity for flexibility. Pretty amazing huh? ⁣

Take a moment to breathe today. Notice your thoughts, allowing them to come and go. Now notice the subtle pause between each thought as you breathe. Observe your thoughts - notice the quality of them. Begin to imagine observing yourself as you are, allowing your thoughts to float by, not getting caught up in them, just noticing. Letting them go. ⁣

When we observe ourselves or pay attention, we create a shift - in perspective, in our awareness, in connecting with ourselves. Notice the shift. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣
