It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved CEO, Robert A. “Bob” Bond, who passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 97.
A brilliant man, devout Christian and beloved father, Bob can be best described as a visionary with an incredible work ethic. His many achievements include serving in the United States Airforce, earning a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas, founding Bond’s Television while still in school and playing a pivotal role in the development of the Electronics Service Industry, including presiding as President and Executive Director of the Texas Electronics Association and publishing a policies & procedures handbook that became the framework for emerging electronics dealers in the service industry. As the first trained TV technician in Austin and being the only Bond in the phone book, Bob had a busy schedule running service calls after classes until 11pm to take care of his customers.
Bob lead the company with a mindset that quality service should always be a priority. With the emergence of Home Theater systems in the marketplace in the mid-1990’s, and the decline in several electronic product categories, Bob and his son David decided to diversify toward that direction focusing less in the electronics service to provide quality Audio/Video installations. As of June 2026, Bond’s has discontinued their Television Service division after 72 years, and is now exclusively offering new Television sales & A/V installation services.
We are deeply grateful for Bob’s extraordinary life and for the many years he devoted to our company, our industry, and the people we serve. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of our organization, and we will carry his vision forward with great pride.
To our customers, partners, employees, and friends who knew Bob or benefited from his life's work: thank you for being part of the journey he helped create.
We mourn his passing, celebrate an extraordinary life, and honor a remarkable pioneer whose vision will continue to inspire us for years to come.
