Be honest... do you know who these people are?

If you’ve built anything in Austin tech, you owe it to yourself to find out.

These are the Austin Tech Hall of Fame inductees (so far.... the list will grow every year). These are people who built the ecosystem that made your opportunity possible. The networks. The culture. The reputation that puts Austin on the global map.

We’re only three years into honoring them. The Austin Technology Council revisited the idea of the “Austin Tech Hall of Fame” in 2024 (ten years after a different approach in 2014-2015). This week we celebrated the newest inductees with a reception where 200 people got to hear from some of the smartest and most generous civic minded leaders. These are people who have done real things over the years that lead to Austin being Austin.

And please notice who is in this video. It is not just founders with big exits. We honor investors, corporate leaders, service providers, journalists, and community builders... because a healthy ecosystem is build by far more people than those getting funded and ringing the bell.

This video will keep getting longer. There are more founders, builders, and connectors whose contributions still need to be recognized... and there always will be, because this community never stops producing people worth remembering.

This week we welcomed nine more (plus the “First Time Founder Award” winner).

A community that forgets its builders stops building. Thriving ecosystems are built on purpose, not luck. This is why the Austin Technology Council believes that “Real Leaders Show Up” and serve the whole of the community, not just their corner of it.

The future of a city is stronger when people understand the story they are joining.

History gives newcomers context, longtime residents pride, and leaders a clearer sense of what must be protected while everything changes.

The Austin Technology Council invites our tech ecosystem to focus on community, collaborations, and conversations.

We will have a better future if people choose to be one community- not a bunch of silos.

The Austin Tech Hall of Fame was started three years ago. We are currently three years in to an eight year launch….. which means we have a long way to go to continue to honor the people who helped create Austin’s tech ecosystem.

The Hall of Fame adds eight foundational/legacy inductees every year… A current year induction… And we give out a first time founder award.

This is a community event because a tech community cannot continue to thrive if we do not honor the past, be present in the now, and look to the future.

At the 2026 reception, we will announce the 2026 inducted into the Hall of Fame… And the 2026 first time founder award winner. This year have been sold out.

May 19th is the reception to honor the newest inductees into the Austin Tech Hall of Fame.

This is a community event that is not just for those connected to ATC... but everyone who sees themselves as part of our tech ecosystem.

Long before Austin was a town where everyone had a start up, a podcast, or an opinion about the best breakfast taco....Austin had leaders who were working to make Austin's future bright. These were entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, academics, business and government leaders, lawyers, bankers, volunteers, etc... who saw what our city could become. Today we live in a city with worldwide attention.

We believe it is important for the next generation that we celebrate the past, are present in the NOW, and that we look to the future.

Who from your company will represent your organization by attending this event?

Get your tickets fast. We sold out in 2024 and 2025.

The Austin tech scene did not build itself. And in two weeks (May 19th) we’re hosting the third annual Austin Tech Hall of Fame and First-Time Founder Award reception.

This is where we honor the people who actually built this ecosystem. Not just the founders who started companies: the investors, the mentors, the advisors, the connectors who made Austin what it is today.

We sold this event out the first two years. If you want to be in the room (and you should be in the room) grab your tickets now before they’re gone.

This event is designed to celebrate the past, be present in the now, and look to the future. Who from your company will represent at this important gathering?

May 19th, 5 PM, at Wise Offices in the Domain.

**** Thank you to our sponsors: KPMG, Egan Nelson LLP, VCFO, Wise, Partners Commercial Cleaning, Red Fan Communications, and Saleshadicapper.

2026 Austin Tech Hall of Fame Legacy / Foundational 2026 Inductees Announced:

Cocktail Reception Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 19th. (Get your tickets before it sells out).

This is the 3rd year of the ATC Austin Tech Hall of Fame and First Time Founder Awards. This program was created to honor the past, be present in the now, and to look to the future of our Austin tech ecosystem.

There were so many people who helped create the foundation that has made Austin the tech hub and innovation center that it is today. There would be no way to honor everyone in one night, so we created an eight year launch to the Austin Tech Hall of Fame. Each year we add three more Legacy / Foundational Inductees, a current year inductee (to be announced at the reception), and a first time found award (to be announced at the reception).

If you do not see someone you think should be honored, be sure to nominate them next year (as we said, we cannot do everyone at once). This is an ongoing community program that is here to celebrate the best of Austin. We will be forming a committee for the 2027 Hall of Fame event soon after we complete this year’s program. ATC is a grassroots organization and we seek input from across all the areas of our tech ecosystem.

Tickets are on sale now at the ATC Website (The “Flash Sale” lowers price ends Wednesday 4/7 at noon).

Events like the Hall of Fame reception could not happen without the “Community Champion” companies who are sponsoring: KPMG, Egan Nelson LLP, VCFO, Partners Commercial Cleaning, and Wise. (More sponsorships available if your organization would like to support this effort).

Congratulations to: Joe McCall, Ken DeAngelis, Hugh Forrest, Brett A. Hurt, Robert Metcalfe, Jan Ryan, Joel Trammell, and Peter Zandan, PhD and thank you all for all that you have done for our tech community over the decades.
