Kids don’t need us to shield them from emotions, they need us to guide them through them. When we help kids understand and move through their feelings, we teach them that recovery is always possible. With the right support, they learn how to process, reset, and move forward.

Failure can feel scary, but for teens, it’s one of the safest times to take risks and learn from them. The real danger comes when they avoid anything that might lead to failure because that’s when growth stops.

When we help them see failure as experience, not defeat, they learn to take chances and build resilience.

Resiliency isn’t about avoiding challenges, it’s about learning to rise after them. Think of it as “bounce-back ability,"" just like a ball pushed under water pops back up, kids need the same skill when life pushes them down.

By guiding them through emotions instead of shielding them, we teach them how to recover, reset, and keep moving forward with confidence. Visit smartpath.school to learn more!

The best way to guide kids isn’t by telling them what to think, but by showing them how to think. Share perspectives, explain your reasoning, and show why others may see things differently.

This helps them stay open, embrace differences without judgment, and realize it’s okay to be different. With that mindset, they build the critical thinking skills to navigate the world with confidence.

Virginia just reported over 56,000 homeschooled students this year, up from 53,000 last year, and 37,000 just a few years ago.

This isn't a temporary blip. It's a steady rise that reflects what we hear from families every day: homeschooling is working!

More parents are realizing they can take the lead in their child’s education and that they don’t have to do it alone. With stronger local communities, better access to resources, and more flexible learning options, families are creating their own paths.

Virginia saw a jump in the number of children who were homeschooled in the 2024-2025 academic year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.
