Raine Allen-Miller's romantic comedy set in London, "Rye Lane," tops the nominee list for the 2023 British Independent Film Awards (Bifas). It's closely trailed by Charlotte Regan's "Scrapper" and Andrew Haigh’s "All Of Us Strangers."
"Rye Lane" boasts 16 nominations, capturing spots for best British independent film, director and debut director for Allen-Miller, as well as best screenplay nods for Nathan Bryon and Tom Melia. Vivian Oparah's talents are recognized for breakthrough and best joint lead performance with David Jonsson.
"Scrapper," also based in London, garnered 14 nominations, with five nods for Regan in categories including best film, director, and debut screenwriter.
"All Of Us Strangers" by Haigh matched with 14 nominations. It features nominations for best film, director, and screenplay for Haigh. Andrew Scott is in the running for best lead performance, while Jamie Bell, Claire Foy, and Paul Mescal received supporting performance nominations.
