October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and here’s the one thing worth knowing: the old advice for spotting a scam doesn’t work anymore.
We used to say watch for typos, bad grammar, a logo that looks off. AI writes clean now, so none of that holds. The fake login pages don’t even copy the real site anymore, and a convincing phone call can be made from a few seconds of someone’s voice.
You can’t catch these by how they look. What works is checking on your own: read the web address before you type a password, deny a login you didn’t start, and call a number you already had before you ever move money.
We put together a short video and a one-page tip sheet on all of it. Keep it at your desk or share it with your team:
A sign-in page loads for your email. The logo is right, the layout is right, you type your password, approve the prompt on your phone, and your inbox opens.
