Nobody noticed FaxAI going live. They noticed the tray being empty.

Staff at Advanced Diagnostic Radiology walked in, opened the tray, and found it empty. Their first thought was that the fax line had gone down.

It had not. The orders were already filed to the right charts.

Most intake conversations focus on fax volume. Volume is not what costs you. The chain attached to every fax is what costs you. Print it, read it, find the patient, type the order, then hope nothing got lost in the stack.

Take that chain out and scheduling starts from a record that is already correct.

Same team. Same phones. Different morning.

Thanks to Heidi Simpson, Operations Manager at ADR, for letting us tell it.

What would your team do with the hours back?

Some of the challenges imaging leaders are facing have already been solved by someone else at the table.

That’s part of what makes CareFlow Club valuable.

When imaging leaders come together, the conversation goes beyond networking. They compare real operational challenges, share what’s working, learn how others have approached similar issues, and leave with practical ideas they can bring back to their own organizations.

Because when everyone around the table understands the same pressures, priorities, and day-to-day realities of outpatient radiology, the conversation becomes more useful.

CareFlow Club creates space for those conversations to happen — peer to peer, customer to AbbaDox, and centered on what’s changing next in outpatient radiology.

Shared challenges. Different perspectives. Practical ideas. Stronger connections.

Better ideas rarely happen in isolation.

Her husband listened to a voicemail and asked, "why does that scheduler sound like you?" It was Abby, our voice agent.

Carrie Law runs operations at a radiology group in one of the fastest-growing retirement markets in the country. She went in skeptical. Her patient population skews elderly, and she did not think they would talk to an AI.

Then her own family scheduled appointments with Abby without realizing.

What she describes in this conversation is the shift most operations leaders don't see coming: the moment your team stops treating AI like software and starts treating it like a colleague. They joke about cloning their best schedulers.

Except this time it actually happened, and that clone takes hundreds of calls at once, nights and weekends included.

The skepticism going in is real. What happens next is worth hearing in her words.

Every voice AI demo sounds human.

Then you give it a real order.

It hits your first scheduling rule, cannot answer, and transfers the call to your front desk. The patient waits. Your staff picks up the work anyway.

An agent that cannot run your rules is not scheduling. It is taking messages.

Abby runs your protocols, your modalities, your locations. She books the appointment instead of handing it back.

Bring your hardest scheduling rule. Drop it in the comments and we will show you Abby handling it.

Our team went back to Global Empowerment Mission (GEM)—this time, to support relief efforts for Colombia as well as Venezuela.

On August 10, 2026, a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, taking hundreds of lives and leaving families and communities facing loss, displacement, and the long work of rebuilding.

Since then, our team has come together across locations and borders, with team members contributing from Orlando, Minnesota, Miami, and Colombia—each in the way they could.

For us, the impact has been deeply personal. One of our own was in one of the cities hit hardest when the earthquake struck. Since then, she has been collecting donations and helping directly in her community. Her example stayed with us and reminded us that support can take many forms.

Some people can give money. Some can donate supplies. Some can give a few hours of their time. Members of our team spent time at GEM packing and preparing relief supplies, while others supported the effort from their own communities.

There is no single right way to help. What matters is showing up in the way you can.

For those looking for a place to start, Global Empowerment Mission is actively supporting relief efforts in Colombia. Monetary donations help GEM respond quickly to the most urgent needs, and volunteering your time can make a difference too.

Moments like this remind us how fragile life can be, how quickly it can change, and how much it matters when people are willing to show up for one another.

There are many ways to help. These were ours.

To everyone finding theirs, thank you. 💛 💙 ❤️

Confirmation calls are the task everyone agrees matters and nobody wants to make.

They get pushed to the end of the day. Then the no-show shows up as an empty slot at 8am, and the slot is unrecoverable.

At Radiology Associates of Ocala, Carrie Law's team stopped making most of them. VoiceAI (Abby) now handles close to 90% of phone confirmations. Not a text blast. An actual call, with a voicemail the patient can replay and a text backup if they miss it.

Her no-show rate moved. Her schedulers got their afternoons back.

The lesson is not that AI answers phones. It is that follow-through stopped depending on who had time to pick one up.

Carrie walks through the whole thing on TechTalks, Wednesday, August 26. Sign up to watch abbadox.com/techtalks-ep10

One imaging group sat at a 48.3% confirmation rate for 18 months. SMS reminders maxed out. Staff already on the phones. No lever left to pull.

Here is the part most ops leaders miss: a no-show is not a scheduling gap. It is revenue leaving the building. For this group, every avoided disruption was worth $150 in recovered slot value.

The fix was not another reminder. It was a verbal yes. Patients who hear the prep and say yes out loud show up. The ones who tap "Y" to a text are a coin flip.

Nine months after Voice AI started making confirmation calls: 2,642 appointments preserved. Around $396K that would have quietly disappeared.

The team made none of those calls.

Curious what disruptions are costing your own centers? Comment below and I will walk you through how we run the math.

Some things we find kinda chic.

Sessions that run long because the questions don't stop.
People asking for the booth demo now instead of booking it later.
Recognizing familiar faces before we even read the badge.
Competitors collaborating at CareFlow Club.
And, somehow, when there are multiple parties that night… people keep choosing ours.

We also picked up a NextGen Tech Award for helping imaging centers add capacity without adding staff.

All from one company very obsessed with making outpatient radiology operations work better.

What do you find kinda chic?

Most vendors put their AI team inside engineering. AbbaDox put it inside Client Services. That one decision tells you everything about how we think about outpatient radiology operations.

Engineers optimize code. Client Services optimizes your business.

In this episode, our EVP of Client Services breaks down the operating model behind CareFlow: an implementation assembly line, a dedicated optimization team that hand-holds for 90 days post go-live, and a product enablement function built to close the knowledge gap most vendors ignore.

Not features. Structure. The kind that decides whether a platform actually gets adopted or quietly gets shelved.

Radiology’s AI conversation cannot stop at the pixel.

As we move through the second half of the year, we’re continuing a mission that matters more than ever: helping the industry understand the difference between clinical AI and operational AI.

Clinical AI supports the physician workflow, including detection, interpretation, and image analysis.

Operational AI addresses a different set of challenges: the work required to move a patient from referral to completed appointment.

That includes:

- Scheduling the right exam across the right resources.
- Processing incoming orders and documents.
- Answering patient calls.
- Filling unexpected schedule gaps.
- Routing information to the right team.
- Reducing the repetitive work that slows operations down.

At SBI in Seattle, Dr. Dana Smetherman, CEO of the ACR and a breast radiologist, made the point clearly: while the industry has focused heavily on “pixel AI,” we cannot overlook AI’s potential to streamline radiology operations.

Because an imaging center can have advanced clinical technology and still struggle with unanswered calls, manual data entry, underused capacity, and disconnected workflows.

Radiology needs both sides of AI.

One helps clinicians work more effectively.

The other helps the entire operation move more efficiently.

Why do you think radiology’s AI conversation still focuses so heavily on clinical AI, while operational AI receives far less attention?
