Spectrum outage has our internet and phone lines down. Can’t even forward incoming calls so please understand you’ll need patience today. It was supposed to be fixed by 1PM but now spectrum says 4PM. Terrible day for an outage!

NYS is making business for credit card Merchants in NY more difficult. If you are surcharging in NYS; prepare to jump through hoops or be fined.

New York Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez stated...
“New Yorkers using credit cards have a right to know the total cost of the purchase, inclusive of any surcharge, before they reach the register. This new law signed by Governor Hochul will offer clarity and provide transparency to both the consumer and business owners about the surcharges when using a credit card.”

OK Robert, why are Retailers NOT required to post the sales price that includes NYS Sales Tax? Consumers in NYS don't know the total price until they actually reach the cash register when 6-7-8% Sales Tax is added. Merchants that post a sign that states a 3% surcharge (current limit set by card brands) will be added to your sale should be sufficient.

How are restaurants supposed to list cash/credit card prices for a regular Martini vs. a Martini w/Grey Goose? A Cosmo w/Cointreau vs. Triple Sec? Sub Onion Rings for Fries?

Requires sellers to clearly post the credit card price inclusive of any surcharge at the location a sale occurs; does not prohibit merchants from offering a two-tier pricing system; establishes civil penalty not to exceed $500 for each violation.
