ALC Design Consulting was born from a team of 3 second-year MBA students who were challenged with creating a business that could run for 2 hours and 2 hours only. With several years of professional experience in creating and designing data visualizations, quarterly business reviews, executive summary decks and company-wide communications, we aim to offer an affordable alternative to hiring an in-house presentation design team.

The design alone won't make your presentation a success, your presentation needs to be engaging and purposeful!

Here are 3 ways to keep your audience wanting more:

✨ Make the audience the hero: Understand your audience. What are their motivations? What do they want or need to hear? What questions will they have?

✨ Have a clear beginning, middle and end: Have a clear structure to your presentation. Take the audience on a familiar journey with a beginning, middle and end.

✨ Use body language to reinforce your message: Moving too little may cause your audience to lose interest, but moving too much can be distracting. Make purposeful movements that grab attention and reinforce your message when needed.

How can you level up your presentations? Here are five quick tips:

⭐ Start with a goal: Know who your audience is and what you would like them to do as a result of your presentation

⭐ Create a storyboard: Storytelling is the most powerful form of presenting. Draw out a storyboard for your presentation.

⭐ Visuals, Visuals, Visuals: Gauge how much text is needed based on the type of presentation you’re giving. Wherever possible, use visuals instead of text. You want your audience to spend more time listening to you than reading off a screen.

⭐ Use color wisely: Color is a powerful tool to evoke all kinds of emotions and human responses. Use colors that complement the goals of your presentation and evoke consistency throughout.

⭐ Leave the detailed version for the handout: If your presentation requires reference to a lot of data or lengthy explanations, consider providing a separate handout that audiences can reference during and after the presentation.
