recently i was feeling antsy and wanted to crack into a design project just for fun. i got a prompt using this awesome generator tool called and was tasked with reimagining a coffee shop logo for a cafe in san francisco. i decided to go with saint frank, since i thought their logo could use a little more character given the historical figure it represents.

for this piece i decided to do something a little reminiscent of 90’s punk fliers, going in an illustrative direction and drawing from catholic imagery to pay homage to the city’s namesake.

i used illustrator and procreate for this project and photoshop for the mock-ups. might do a bunch more and make this a portfolio piece, i really enjoyed working on it and i love the result!

first freehand portrait i’ve done in a very long time. super happy with how this turned out.

i started this piece during a very painful point in my life where i was experiencing a lot of transphobia from my family. it triggered me to want to validate myself for myself, to see myself as i really am and not the way people try to paint me or force me to be. while i started doing this from a place of sadness, literally crying all over my ipad screen, i’m happy to say i finished it with a smile on my face and in a much better place mentally. my situation may not have changed a lot in this time, however my attitude towards it has shifted drastically. so grateful for my talents as an artist, truly the best form of therapy i could ever ask for. 💜🙏🏽🌺
