Zerflin

Zerflin real. good. design. What does the name “Zerflin” mean? We get asked that question a lot. Yeah, we’re smart like that. Anyway, we digress.

The company was named Zerflin for exactly that reason: everyone asks about it. If we get your interest in something as simple as the name, we’re just another step to being in your office, or living room, or wherever it is that you make the decision to hire people. If you really want to know, the word “Zerflin” came from a name of a cartoon alien Benjamin drew as a kid. The creature had three eyes,

and lived in a world where everything “Zerflin-made” was based on 3 and 5, rather than on 2 and 4 as in our world. It easily became not only the name, but also the philosophy behind the company. Things designed around the number 3 and 5 have always seemed unique to cultures throughout the ages, from Asian, to African, to modern Western design. We strive to design things that are unique by doing everything by hand, and producing original work. We hope this clears up the matter.

A card handed out in Prague, for an anomaly in Helsinki. 🔵

We designed a save-the-date card for Ingress Resistance Finland, built to distribute at the Prague anomaly months ahead of the Helsinki XM Anomaly on July 18th, 2026.
The front is built around the Lantern Bearers from Helsinki Central Railway Station, redrawn in vector and reduced to two colors. The globes they hold carry the Ingress faction mark and the Resistance key, tying the city's own monumental sculpture directly to the event.
The scalloped border comes from the official visual identity of the city of Helsinki, and echoes through the fluted columns beneath the figures, so the motif runs through the whole composition.
Color required a specific local sensitivity. Blue and yellow together read as the Swedish flag. So yellow was confined strictly to the Helsinki coat of arms, where it originates, and everything else stays blue. Unmistakably Finnish.
The back teases a logo still in development, with a whooper swan in silhouette as a quiet preview. The Finnish national bird, researched and drawn rather than approximated. The web address closes with the word "blue" in a brighter blue, a nod to the Resistance rallying line.
Helsinki will be blue.

West Park Arts Fest 2026. June 13th, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. Free.

We designed the festival poster for the West Park Cultural Center.
The color band becomes a structural ribbon, running across the top, sweeping down the right edge, and curving around the bottom corner to frame the full programming load: mainstage lineup, showcase stage, family activities, and sponsors.
Hierarchy does the heavy lifting. The date sits largest. The location follows. The lineup runs as a consistent row of five photos. Everything earns its place.

West Park Arts Fest is coming. June 13th, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia.

This save-the-date card is the first piece using the refreshed brand.
The four-color palette from the new WPAF monogram carries through the whole layout: yellow, orange, and magenta banding connects the white logo block at top to the deep purple details block below. Every line of text is tuned to its own field rather than fighting it.

Almost two decades of brand equity. The brief was to fix readability, not start over.

The old West Park Arts Fest wordmark had a problem: depending on color and background, some words would come forward and others would drop back. "WEST" and "FEST" kept disappearing.
The solution splits the work in two.
A new WPAF monogram handles all the color play, four bold rounded letterforms in purple, magenta, orange, and yellow sharing contours, the P tucked inside the W's negative space. Below it, "WEST PARK ARTS FEST" in solid purple, evenly tracked, every word the same size.
With the color handled above, the wordmark just has to be readable.

Engraving is unforgiving. No color, no gradients, just the line work. 🔵

We designed two versions of a 20oz black insulated tumbler for the Jersey City XM Anomaly.
One carries the full event logo with the Baldwin "Baby Face" diesel, the date, and the Resistance hex pendant. The other carries the New Jersey Resists roundel as a standalone mark.

The whole color palette disappears in the laser engraving process.
The design had to hold up in a single tone, etched silver against matte black. The hatching and line work that went into the locomotive illustration earned its keep here.

Flip the palette. Let the blue pop. 🔵
The yellow colorway for the Jersey City XM Anomaly t-shirt puts gold on the body instead of navy, and the Baby Face diesel and event lettering in blue jump right off it.
Full event logo centered on the chest, agent's handle across the upper back, hex patch on the sleeve.

The rest of the merch line is navy-dominant. This one stands out in the field, which is exactly the point.

The zipper changes everything. So we moved the logo to the back. 🔵

The zip-up version of the Jersey City XM Anomaly hoodie presented a design problem: a full logo centered on the chest doesn't work with a zipper running down the middle.
So the full event logo moved to the back, the Baby Face diesel in gold and blue with the date and "XM Anomaly" along the bottom arc. The Resistance hex pendant takes the left chest at a smaller scale.
The sleeve stays the same as the pullover: Orion star hex patch on the shoulder, agent's name running vertically down the arm in gold.
Constraints make you design smarter.

Your name on the sleeve. The Baby Face on the front. 🔵

We designed the pullover hoodie for the Jersey City XM Anomaly, commissioned by the New Jersey Resistance for the May 30th event.
The chest carries the full event logo scaled up large: the Baldwin "Baby Face" diesel in gold and blue, the date, "XM Anomaly" along the bottom arc, and the Resistance hex pendant below.
The sleeve is customized per agent, with the Orion star hex patch on the shoulder and the agent's name running vertically down the arm in gold.

Every agent gets their own. That's the kind of thing worth showing up for.
