You may have noticed that my email address doesn’t use a common domain, such as .com or .com. While setting up and using a standard gmail account is easy, free, and gets the job done, your business or organization may benefit from a custom and professional email domain.

For example, instead of “[yourbusiness].com”, you could use “[email protected]”, or “[email protected]”.

Not only does this look more professional, but it allows you to create accounts so that your employees and team members can all use the same official domain.

While Google offers this as a paid service, there are other platforms out there that can provide custom email hosting at little to no cost depending on your needs.

Interested in protecting your home or business but aren’t sure where to begin? When it comes to security cameras, there are really two categories you should consider.

Subscription-Based
Examples include Ring, Arlo, Blink, and others. These devices are fairly simple to install. By connecting these devices to your Wi-Fi network, you are able to view the live camera feed from your phone anywhere.

It’s important to note however, that many important features are locked behind a monthly subscription. These features include video history and recordings. Consider this before deciding on subscription-based systems.

Traditional Camera System
In this setup, cameras (generally wired) connect to a DVR or NVR that stores footage locally. They’re common in businesses but act as great options for homes too.

Although they can be more difficult to install, these wired cameras offer more consistent performance and don’t rely on monthly fees, making them a great long-term solution.

So which one is right for you?
Before you make your decision, consider your budget, goals, desired coverage, and how you plan to utilize the system.

What is the cloud?

The cloud isn't exactly in the sky, but you're probably using it anyway.

When you take pictures on your iPhone and save them to your iCloud, or check emails and documents through Google Drive, you’re using the cloud.

But what exactly is “the cloud”?

When you save things to the cloud, you’re actually using secured computers, called datacenters, around the world to access and store your information instead of using your local device’s storage. You can access it anytime over the internet.

This means that your pictures aren’t lost if your phone breaks, your files are available on any device, and you generally won’t have to worry about running out of storage.

There are countless platforms that you can use to access the cloud and virtually unlimited ways to utilize the technology. If you’d like a hand in taking advantage of cloud technology for your own use, feel free to reach out and I’d be glad to help!
