Over the past 18 years Tek-CAD LLC has grown from a small computer and network repair company, into a full Managed Services Provider. We now fully manage all IT infrastructure for a large number of clients on a proactive basis. Through this transition, growth was inevitable, and this e-mail is to officially announce that Tek-CAD is ready to take the next step as a company.

On January 1, 2019 Tek-CAD, LLC will be merging with RC Computers, LLC located in Sewell, NJ. RC Computers has been providing IT and MSP services in the region for over 30 years. On January 1, 2019 both companies will become, E3 IT Services LLC, and will continue to offer the best in class IT services. Our Barrington office will remain in place and we will now have a second office located in Sewell, NJ. Our new web site which will be launching in January will be www.E3ITServices.com.

We are still the same people you have always worked with, but you will see some new faces as we grow! Some of you may already know Randy Carbone (owner of RC Computers) from past IT projects at your company. Tek-CAD and RC Computers have been collaborating on various projects over the past 18 years. We are taking the next step to unify our service offerings as well as expand into complementary areas like Voice-Over-IP telephony solutions.

We will be implementing a few changes and will keep you updated accordingly. A new phone system, new ticketing platform with client portal are just a few of the improvements we are making to expedite IT services to our customers.

We promise to continue to be your Expert Consultant, Efficient Implementer and provide Exceptional Performance! Thank you for your loyal support over the years and moving with us into our next chapter as we continue to grow!

Many of us forget about the inherent risks of our home routers and Wi-Fi connections. But because of a recent threat, the FBI recommends any owner of small office and home office routers power cycle (reboot) the devices.

Foreign cyber actors have compromised hundreds of thousands of home and office routers and other networked devices worldwide. The actors used VPNFilter malware to target small office and home office routers. The malware is able to perform multiple functions, including possible information collection, device exploitation, and blocking network traffic.

Take a minute to disconnect so you'll be safer when you reconnect.

And if you haven't already [tsk...tsk...tsk], now would be a good time to change the default password on your router that came installed when you bought it.

Tek-CAD LLC is seeking an individual to fill an entry level IT support technician position. We have an office in Sewell, NJ & Barrington, NJ the candidate would work from. This position is part-time to start at 24-32 hours/week. Position requires some computer knowledge and a thirst for learning more. We will train as we go. It has been discovered that there is a vulnerability in CPU hardware. It is severe. These vulnerabilities allow programs to steal data which is currently processed on the computer. These vulnerabilities are referred to as Meltdown (https://meltdownattack.com/) and Spectre (https://spectreattack.com/). Carnegie Mellon's CERT division who works with Homeland Security on vulnerability disclosures first recommended replacing the CPU of your computer as the only solution to fix the vulnerability. This advice is technically true for a processor design flaw. They have since changed that recommendation. You can read their report here:

Older and current CPUSs are subject to slow down when patches are applied to fix the vulnerability, but newer systems might not feel the pain so much. Older systems could see 20% or more decrease in performance. Microsoft, Apple, Linux, Intel, AMD, ARM, Google and others are all working on updates to correct this issue. New computer systems won't really feel the effect.
